Build yourself a bolt cutter
When this tool arrived in the mail, it did not work at all. First and most minor was that the jaws were frozen together because of the heavily applied paint which held them shut. Not being able to open the handles of the tool, I had to actually chisel the paint away to free up the mechanism. That exposed the second issue, which was that a pivot bolt at the base of one of the jaws was so short, it did not support the jaw tang within the clevis connection of the handle. I had to clean out the threads in the clevis and then replace the short bolt with a longer one that I had on hand. Being able to properly articulate the jaws then exposed a third problem, which was the jaw closure adjustment bolt being so loose in its threads that it changed adjustment with every opening and closing of the tool. I found a low-profile nut of sufficient size and put it on as a jam nut to solve that issue. Beyond that, the cutter is still very tight to open and close, even with a dose of WD_40 followed by gun oil.All said, I was finally able to test the tool by lopping some 3/16" soft iron wire, which is what I needed it for in the first place. It worked. I probably should have rated this item one star or returned it (or both). However, I gave it back an extra star because the cutter and I have been through a lot together, and now we share a great kinship.

Inaccurate description and picture of item
Not as described item is completely different it is much more a wire cutter the picture is not accurate at all the handles are red everything else is black and it is about 9 inches in length it is definitely wire cutters definitely not bolt cutters and the picture again is not a picture of the item it is completely different ,100% different if you read the description it even states that it weighs 12.9 pounds that is a joke it honestly Wess weighs less than a half a pound like I said it is a pair of wire cutters pretty much a little bigger than a pair of needle nose pliers and the picture again is not even a picture of the item at all what a joke super disappointed the length also says it's almost 10 inches long but really it's a little longer than eight and a half inches so I do not recommend this if you really want to cut bolts at a real store 8 inch bolt cutters will definitely work on most smaller boats I used most commonly to cut toilet bolts so I can put the caps on without having to use as a saw that's what I was hoping to use this for but this will barely cut through a speaker wire very poor description on the sellers part Amazon should fix this

Not very good
I needed these to help cut apart some metal springs. The blades don't close the whole way so the smaller ones don't cut through. After cutting a few of the larger ones they pretty much stopped too. On closer look the metal for the blade is so soft after cutting less than a dozen times it made indents in the cutting blades.

Missing a nut
I had to buy a new one because my old cutter's nuts became loose and dropped in the yard. This new one came missing a nut out of the box. You gotta watch the nuts.I'll be looking for a replacement nut.

Unsuitablte for cutting even the softest material.
Completely unsuitable for the purpose for which it is intended. Could not cut a sheet metal screw. On close inspection blades are dull and do not close completely. I tried then to cut the hollow ground pin from a three prong 110 volt plug. it crimped the pin but was unable to cut it in half.

This item should be removed, not heavy duty at all!
This was by far the worse thing I have ever bought! My boyfriend and I are very dissatisfied with them. He only got to use them once and he couldn't even finish the job. We will never buy these again! It was a waste of money and time. Very unhappy...

Cheap and Weak...
Fresh out of the box, and the handle broke on the first lock I tried to cut. Wow...I could've ordered this from a local store, and got a stronger tool for less.

The tool is defective?
First use on a small 1/8" chain, bolt cutter broke. Replaced bolt on the jaw, then the other jaw bolt broke. Used a hack saw to do the work. Realize they are not for industrial use, but a dog chain??
