Best Macha Tea Whisk
I'm a "newbie" to matcha tea so this is the first whisk I've purchased. Therefore I have nothing to compare this whisk to, however it is wonderful! I did a lot of reviews searching on amazon on other matcha green tea whisks and determined I needed this whisk from Coastal Tea Co. I use 12 oz cups and this was the only long handled whisk I found on amazon. It works like a charm! Just simply push down ever so lightly on the handle a few times and the tea froths up beautifully! It spins many times both on the down-push, and on the up-release. The whisk is very well constructed, having a bamboo handle, steel shaft, and rubber (?) coated whisk, so it should last a lifetime. The container is made of very sturdy cardboard so I store my whisk in it. There are instructions on the back label on how to use the whisk and how to make matcha tea. I definitely & highly recommend this product!

Broke in less than a month, no froth after ~3 uses
One star because it broke within 2-3 weeks use, not only that it frothed well in the first few uses, then it was just a mixer after that, no more froth, even with milk. I always put some non dairy milk in my tea. Tea alone or with "milk" after a few times it didn't work as indicated. I was still happy to use it to blend/whisk the tea in with water...then it broke while I was hand washing/rinsing it. The glue or however it's constructed holding the plastic part at the bottom of the whisk inside the wood part came out. Now it's useless junk. Just buy a small whisk instead, it won't fall apart.

Attractive design, but functionally flawed
In theory, I love this matcha whisk. It's attractive, compact, and cleverly designed. Sadly, the craftsmanship does not seem to match the inspired design. When it works, the frothing action is solid - However, when it routinely jams and sticks, you're repeatedly forced to wait for the whisk to finally spring back from the bamboo handle. I also noticed that within the first few uses, the silicone seal along the metal edges was beginning to peel and flake into my tea.Definitely disappointing, but Coastal Tea seems like a good company, so I'll definitely keep an eye out for a version #2 in the future

Works like a charm but not for long...
I drink Matcha every single day and at times more than once a day. When I discovered this whisk I could hardly wait to get it. I ordered, it came and I immediately fell in love with it. I could have bought a dozen of them to give away to any Matcha lovers. It worked like a charm but... Even if you only wash it by hand, like I did, and only submerge the whisk not the shaft part, it till breaks down all too soon. After 2-3 months of daily use it started to get stuck, I was so disappointed. The spring would work well for a while but then it would not. After a while the mechanism just wouldn't work anymore. It literally would not turn at all. Eventually, I received a replacement from Coastal Tea and thought great. I figured the old broken one must have just been a fluke. Not to be! The replacement started malfunctioning within a couple of weeks!!! I emailed Coastal and have yet to get an answer... I have in my possession two Coastal Tea Rotating Matcha Whisks, one that the shaft just totally comes out of the handle and the other one that will go up and down but will not turn at all! As best as I can tell this could be part of the problem: hot steam from the tea rises, it produces moisture that goes inside the bamboo handle. I think that might make the spring that is inside the handle rust... I love the concept but it needs a better mechanism design... for now it is just an ok product because it breaks down way too soon.

great idea, mostly good whisk.
Whisk works great. I used it on some matcha and it did a pretty good job, it did not break up all the clumps fully. I am guessing that is due to the small nub at the bottom keeps the whisk from touching the bottom of the cup. It did fine overall, just not perfect. Great design and idea though.Do be warned though I used this in a small coffee cup and it was just big enough to not dip the wood in the water when using it. If you plan on using this on a taller mug or anything I would suggest either something else or be very quick to clean and dry it as the wood would quickly become water damaged if you used this a lot without drying it.

Near perfect in a cool gadget
This is life. It's o fun making my morning matcha latte with this. It's awesome. Everyone wants one the second they see me use it. Cool and beautiful little gadget. To the manufacturer I would just suggest an update to the design. The middle tip should be covered in silicone like the rest of it. When you put it in a cup to use you have to be careful it doesn't scratch the bottom. For this reason I use a thick glass measuring cup. I'd rather not have an extra item to clean but still I feel it's worth it. Cleaning the authentic matcha mixer is even harder still.Love this and use it everyday. I store it in the original box and it still looks and works lole new. Do not hesitate to purchase.

Probably best to stick with a traditional whisk
We are regular matcha drinkers and were excited to have a new whisk, unfortunately, our Coastal Tea Company Matcha Whisk completely fell apart over the course of two months. The inner spring mechanism initially started making a lot of noise and experiencing resistance and ultimately the whole metal and plastic part began coming out of the wood handle. We never put it in the dishwasher and only hand washed the actually whisk part either under running water or in a mug with soap and water as instructed. Probably best to stick with a traditional whisk.

Pretty design - poor execution
Really pretty whisk - poor material selection. I purchased this to mix up matcha in my teas. After the first use, the inside popped out of the handle. No big deal, popped it again and worked fine. Second use, popped out and I didn't realize water got inside the handle. Third use - no longer moves up and down because the water got into the handle, wood swelled up and cracked and seems to be putting too much pressure on the inside for it to move properly.Love the idea and how great it worked on the first use. Now it's just a regular whisk that I manipulate and is handle is broken.
