LOVE my Comfy Commuter! For me it's not for travel, it's essential!
I bought my Comfy Commuter Basic in 2014. I sleep sitting in a recliner because of back issues, and neck pillows keep my head in a relatively stable position. I've used all sorts: memory foam, microbeads, inflatable, you name it. This pillow is flat at the back, so it doesn't push your head forward into an unnatural position. Even though the Basic doesn't have the non-slip fabric the Deluxe version says it does, I have never had an issue with it slipping or sliding. I sleep better with this than anything else I've ever tried. My only complaint is the fabric. I wish it were some kind of linen, with a cooling foam, because it gets too hot. (I had this problem with all of the neck pillows I've ever had.) I've never used the velcro to fasten it around my chin, maybe because my neck is short it seems quite stifling. I need to order another, as this one is beginning to break down, and see it's currently unavailable, so will order from their website. I'm just hoping the mother/daughter team that created this pillow reads the reviews here still, as I'd love it if they considered the fabric issue and offered more options. I know they tested many fabrics, and found the ones they currently use to be the best, but I'd be willing to buy the second-best if it wasn't hot!

Fantastic!
I have never been able to sleep on a plane. Nod off uncomfortably yes, but not truly slept. Just retuned from 15 hour travel two ways and slept both ways very comfortably. Also good just to wear when you are watching a movie, etc for the extra support. One the two longest legs I had an isle seat, one I slept sitting up, the other I had three seats to myself, slept lying down and still wore this, and also slept some sitting up, even though I could lie down. My point is, for me, window, isle or lying down, sleeping or watching a movie in the seat back, this worked great for me. I could even wear my Bose noise canceling headphones, even while lying down. I studied pillows and reviews extensively and am glad I landed on this one. Yes, I said it.

Makes longer flights more comfortable
Prior to a business trip I purchased 5 different airline pillows to test. In the end this was my preferred product. I like the support it allows and the flat back enables you to sit back into your seat rather be forced to lean forward at an angle. When resting on a plane I tend to either lay my head straight back and tilted to the side or against the window and this pillow suits it all!I had my husband test all the same pillows and this was his first choice as well! I highly recommend it, the price is comparable to others but the comfort exceeds.

Description is basically a lie! This is not a true neck pillow!!!
I ordered this for my wife for Christmas because it was listed as a neck pillow but there is almost no neck support whatsoever! In the pictures it looks like it cradles the head nicely but in reality there is only a tiny bit of padding where the neck is supposed to rest. The sides are big and support the head from rolling but that's really it. This product is absolutely useless as a neck pillow but it might work as a c-collar if you ever get into a car accident.

Maybe my head is too heavy...
Eh... bought it based on the good reviews. It was ok. Yes, you will look silly wearing this. Around your neck, it feels like a plushie neck brace as the entire pillow wraps around your neck with velcro. I'm not a fan of turtlenecks, so this wasn't a comfortable feeling for me personally. In addition, I have a large head the size (and probably the weight) or a ripe cantaloupe, so this pillow was way too soft for me and did not hold my head up enough. It would be great if they made a firmer version as I couldn't fall asleep with this pillow since my head kept dipping too low to the side. One last consideration is the amount of space this will take up in your carry-on - yes you can try to squish it but it's not very amenable to being crushed and it does end up taking up quite a bit of space, especially when compared to other travel pillows.Having said that, I appreciate the effort and this is one of the more comfortable pillows out there. I just wish it would do the job and actually help me sleep.HAIKU SUMMARY:Oh fluffy goodnessToo deceptively plushyHead keeps falling down :(

It was terrible. 24 hours of flying without any comfort to ...
So I started having to travel to the middle east for work. The first time I went, I went without the neck pillow. It was terrible. 24 hours of flying without any comfort to be had. The second trip, I purchased this before I went. What a difference! It was like my head was wedged between a nice, large, soft set of bosoms. I usually can NEVER sleep in vehicles, and this neck pillow had me purring like a kitten in deep sleep. I was a little worried that it would be cumbersome due to it's size to take around with me...but really i just attached it to my suitcase with the little chin strap thing. no one at the airport gave me any grief about it (being an extra carry on that is) since it seems like it was the "thing to do".that was really the only use i found for the chinstrap though. Other than that, just make sure it's right side up, and grab a window seat for a little extra added comfort by leaning into the neck pillow.Really, it's quite comfortable and was the perfect firmness. Soft enough to feel "pillowy", yet firm enough to be supportive. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one in a heartbeat.Oh, and I didn't see any black stuff rub off like some other reviewers stated.....mine works perfect. No black dye here!

Black fabric fades
The black part of this pillow bleeds. It was getting on my cheeks and it took me a couple of days to figure out where the "dirt" on my face was coming from. Then, I put a pillowcase on it to prevent it and it totally stained the pillow case badly in just one night's use. The pillow is very comfortable, but a different non-bleeding fabric needs to be used for the black part. If that is done, it's a great pillow. Otherwise, not practical at all.
