Quality hammer- highly recommended for serious neuro exam
Excellent hammer for neurology rotation. It's compact and has just the right amount of weight to it. Pretty easy to elicit reflexes with this hammer b/c the weight does most of the work. It's nicely constructed and does not seem like it will break easily. Does not feel cheap. Also, the handle works well for cutaneous reflexes; it's neither too sharp nor too dull. The red and silver looks nice. It's a really good hammer at a reasonable price- what more can you ask for? I will say that the Queen Square hammer is another good option but I think this one works just as well and has the benefit of taking up less space. Either one is a much better option than those crappy Taylor hammers that everyone uses. These are not much more expensive, and it's just nice knowing that if you're not eliciting reflexes with this hammer, it's most likely b/c you either have awful technique or the patient is legitimately hyporeflexic.

The Swiss Army Knife of neuro reflex hammers
I suck at reflexes in general but this thing makes it easy. Great weight distribution. Also has the little scratchy tip for a nice Babinski reflex. The metal is often cold so I can use it for temperature sensation, then flip it to the smaller blunt tip for pressure. Lastly, it’s bright red, which is great for testing naming and vision! Honestly I am in love with this hammer and will no longer be calm, alert and oriented x3 if it is ever stolen.

Quality
A very good hammer reflex. I have 4 Trommer hammers, this is the best

Works well
I really like this hammer. I have a couple other hammers including a queen and taylor and this is my favorite. The entire hammer is solid metal except for the rubber tips which can be replaced. Because of this it gives a really nice weight to the head and allow for that nice dropping action instead of having to pound on your patient's forearm or tricep as you often have to do with lighter hammers. While some have said the end isn't sharp enough to elicit a babinski's reflex I haven't had any issues with it being too blunt, not yet at least. The last thing to note is that this is for the red tipped hammer. I accidentally thought I was buying the black tipped one. Overall it makes no difference, but it's nice to make sure you get what you want.

Good value
I’m an attending neurologist at an academic medical center and got this as a backup hammer. It works well for this purpose and is a great value. It’s obviously going to be durable, given the construction. In my opinion, the Tromner style is the easiest to hammer to learn to reliably get reflexes with, but I’m biased, since this is what I was trained on. The tip works well for eliciting the Babinski. I think the small tip is silly, but I’m not a pediatric neurologist. The swing is definitely not as nice as my $300 hammer, but I’ll feel less remorse if I lose this one. This is the perfect hammer for a medical student or internist and even works for a non-neuromuscular trained neurologist.

Great Tool
I am so thrilled I ended up getting this tool. As a medical student I had bought the simple reflex hammer with the triangle head (as that's what everyone else had and I did not know better), but since it did such a poor job, I hardly ever had it with me. Getting this made me realize I just had the wrong tool for eliciting reflexes. I think the only con would be the weight of it. It does have more heft that the simple one I had, but I like that. Works great and would recommend this as a great investment for future practice

I wish I had purchased this in medical school instead of Queen Square type
Perfectly weighted and balanced, comfortable in the hand, feels and looks high professional quality. Solidly built. Very easy to elicit reflexes, with more precision and greater response than my previous Queen Square hammer, especially for biceps on the far side of the bed and ankle reflexes. Can use the pointed end for plantars and red top for visual field testing (maps out the blind spot great).
