John J Rambo finally returns to his father’s ranch.
JJ Rambo returns to his father’s ranch, which is where the previous film ends. He helps a family friend rescue a daughter from the drug cartels. The normal blood and guts are plentiful as he protects his charge. Worth the time.

Not best Rambo
I have been a fan of Rambo movies but this is a bit predictable. Lots of gore and killing as always but lame story.

A good Rambo movie, that continues the visceral violence and personalises the cruelty.
I LOVE this rambo film. It's a brave exploration of an aged John Rambo, that doesn't pull its punches. One of the things it teaches is never to back a bear/tiger/gorilla into a corner, whatever their age :D. In fact the older they are, the less they have to lose and the more dangerous and vicious they'll be. The uk version does have some scenes removed for pace, which are in the international version I saw at the cinema : opening scene of rambo on a mountain rescue (a subtle juxtaposition to the original film where he ends up on a mountain hunt at one point), they also offer some insight into his character unseen before now; some scenes giving character development to the cartel brothers. As a fan, I found that disappointing, as the scenes did flash out the movie and gave a good counter point to the visceral nature to the violence of this one. I'd happily watch another Rambo with this character but equally see how this was a good end : that rambo can never know the peace he fought for us for, but was able to realise he is who he is and learn to live with it. And that he was able to find people who loved him and didn't judge him and therefore get to have those feelings, for a little while. It's a deeper film than you think for those that are familiar with the character, as it also shows that frequently someone with a well's depth of rage is also able to express a well's depth of love too.

Stallone is still the best at this type of thing:)
Stallone’s still in better ‘nic’ at his age than I’ve ever been and quite probably ever will be. With all that he’s achieved, how can you not admire him? We all know that the Rambo and Rocky characters are his speciality and he carries this one off as well as ever.As you would expect, our hero dispatches the bad guys (depraved criminals and their henchmen) like no other. The plethora of methods used to eradicate his foe, are remarkable. The preproduction discussions at story board stage must’ve been outrageous. Now that I’m writing this, it seems so wrong that me and my wife laughed aloud at the sudden, sticky ends some of the baddies came to. But, as they drew first blood, it seems perfectly reasonable in movie-land for Rambo to dish out his medieval brand of justice. The film’s a good example of how to motivate an audience to want the main character to exact revenge. The plot is predictable, at times it’s dark, the death toll is high and yet as is the case with Rambo, you feel ok (or even happy) about it. It’s a Rambo film what more can I say? It’s entertaining and worth your time and money if you like the franchise. I hope this isn’t the last we see of John James Rambo.

I am a big no huge Stallone fan. I loved the start but it was just ruined by the violence. too much
I love stallone. he is the hero of my youth. Rocky, Over the top, even Paradise Alley. I always find his character portrayals modest, innocent and always inspiring. nobody does 'underdog' like Stallone and make it believable, as he does and it has been many years since Rocky 4, the last of the best Rocky films. many have tried but nobody can rival that franchise. He still looks great and for the most part , I really enjoyed the Expendables- for me and my generation (born in 75), it is such fun to see Stallone bring all the stars of my era, well most of them and put them together in an action film. who cares about the story line, just let the cameras roll and bring on the action!!! I wish that these films could have carried on and perhaps garnered more financial support, for better locations and... storyline (I know I said who cares about the story line, but there is a limit). but anyway, this film....I loved the start. his stories and his acting go so well together- he has mastered his genre of film making and anyone with a daughter would imagine maybe even understand the pain Rambo was feeling when somebody hurt his girl. And she was not even his real daughter, but Rambo loved her that way. so this was always going to be the cue for Rambo to bring out the 'big guns'. This story line was always going to lead to some real, cold-hearted violence and retribution. but as an ordinary person who likes to watch a few films here and there, there is still a limit- for this sort of thing. this went beyond anything I have ever seen. it just put me off, i understood and accepted, hell I was even with Rambo when he first inflicted some serious pain on some low life in the car park of a bar, as he was searching for (forgot her name, lets say the girl), but this wore down towards the final scenes. seeing people's heads being blown off in such a visual way, you cannot dismiss it as special effects anymore, such is the state of todays technology- it looks so real, too real. and then seeing Rambo cut somebody's heart out, it was a little too much. At the time most of his films, were out, 70's-90's you would never have gotten away with such extreme violence (Mary Whitehouse would be turning in her grave for sure), But now it seems the done thing and it looks very real. dont we have enough violence in the world? Maybe it is my age I just feel this was too violent. violence can happen but it does not need to look so real.I also remember in the 80's, I think it was a Spitting image episode, where somebody referenced Rocky 17 Rocky fighting the aliens or something... seems funny now.
