For those who want to find real friends
This review is from my 6 y.o.Have you ever been teased or left behind? Allergic to bird seeds, likes reading and video games, big glasses, small wings - that's Nerdy Birdy, and she has no friends. All the birds around are cool, but she isn't. Will she find a real friend? With their colorful and funny illustrations, and simple language Aaron Reynolds and Matt Davies in their book Nerdy Birdy teach kids about kindness, self-esteem, and that real friends accept each other even if they're different. I recommend this book for children who are looking for true friends.

Great book!
My child, age 6, loved this story! Great message: people don't have to look or behave like you to be your friend. Value people who care about you...not just because they are cool or because you have the same interests. It also sparked a curiosity about different types of birds! Illustrations were very enjoyable!

Great gift for my Nerdy Birdy.
My daughter is 6, wears glasses, plays Minecraft and reads novels. She doesn't always fit in with her first great peers. One of my pet names for her is Nerdy Bird. This book is adorable and made her feel like a book was written just for her. It's a tale not only of "finding your flock" and the group where you feel like you belong, but also being willing to go outside that comfort zone and find that friends who are much different from you also enrich your life! Mom enjoyed the little Doctor Who easter eggs in the art, because, you know, being a Nerdy Birdy is genetic.

A heartwarming tale for the nerd in all of us
I got this book in a book exchange and I'm so glad I did. My boys are 7 year old twins and they absolutely love this book. I've even read it in their classrooms. The story is cute and the message is so important, especially since my boys tend toward the lightsaber-toting nerdy kids more than the eagle.I think it's more important than ever for kids to know it's ok to be different and that everyone just wants to be treated well.Buy this book, you won't be disappointed.
