super impractical; or good for short people and floor TV's
This is the 3rd digital antenna I've tested (Winegard FL-55YR FlatWave- works amazingly well for me; and the amplified HDTV 1byone- was just ok) and in my home for whatever reason; the onh hdtv amplified indoor antenna performed the worst of the three.I live in silicon valley- 30 miles from San Francisco and 20 miles from San Jose in an area without any hills. This was the first antenna where I needed to use the amplifier to get the standard broadcasting stations- CBS, ABC, FOX etc. and even with the amplifier, the signal was weaker than the other two without the amp. Antennas can vary to large degrees depending on many different variables; so this isn't necessarily indicative of how it would perform for you, or even the guy down the street from me. So grading it based on that seems a bit unfair; as this is just my experience. That said, the following isn't isolated to my experience only- the cord attached to the amplifier is just over 3 feet long (38 inches). Meaning, if your TV is more than 3 feet off the ground; you're going to need an extension cord to plug this into a wall outlet. It's 1) not a great look, in particular in your living room to have an extension cord dangling a few feet off the floor and 2) a very strange decision to use a cord obviously too short to use practically.

I purchased the "Onh Amplified hdtv antenna" for my bedroom TV in hopes of bringing in more stations with better reception than that of my non powered living room TV antenna. Although the rooms share a common wall the Onh amplified antenna actually brought in fewer stations. As a test, I attached my non powered antenna to my bedroom TV and it really did bring in more stations than the powered Onh with better reception.I give it two stars because it was an easy install. I just wish it worked better than it did.

If you Live in a State or city surrounded Mountains, heed with caution:
I live in Colorado, and I think this is a very good antenna, it is just that the Mountains interfere with receiving all of the local channels. Channel ABC and CBS have the weakest reception. Other than that, I still feel it was a good purchase. Kevin B. Aurora, CO.

Thought I would give this a try, but I am located in a difficult area. After locating the local channels and setting up the antenna in the appropriate orientation we were able to get about 6 HD channels. However, depending on the time of day and weather there is still a lot of channel drop out. I tried putting the antenna in several locations with similar results. I tried both with and without the amplifier and to be honest I really saw no difference in performance. Direct TV here we come.

the reception is not good -- there is a lot of interference on the news stations - which is the only reason I purchased it. My Ration from stations is just over 25 miles therefore I bought the 50 mile antenna but I guess the strength is still not good enough

Good for at least 50 miles
Pulls in a couple dozen stations sitting right at 50 miles from my house, even mounted on an indoor wall. I have a 2nd antenna mounted (inside) on an outer wall and it brings in another dozen additional stations.

Sure beats the others I've tried.
Works as good as can be expected from a 'over the air' antenna. It sure beat the others I had. I live in a rural are and the cable company upped thier rates significantly. This antenna picks up 27 stations!
