Can this be set to remain unlocked while in use or does it lock when closed?

It will lock when you close the door.

Tried to open the lock but it started to tick non stop (not beep) and didn't open. Any tips on how to solve this? Tkanks

Have you had it for a while and the battery died? Did it open by itself and you closed it? If so, you're screwed. The battery needs to be changed when it needs to be changed. Never close it if it opens by itself. I realize this is no help, but if this is what happened, the only thing you can do is contact the manufacturer.
