Fits 2012 Chevy Equinox 2.4L.
I have a P0442 Small evap leak code. Without a way to smoke the car and without a bidirectional scan tool, finding the cause is impossible and I got quoted $160 just for a shop to do the diagnostic. The gas cap, vent solenoid, purge solenoid are common causes for the code and it was cheaper to replace them than to pay for a diagnostic. Unfortunately nothing fixed the leak, money down the drain. The cap did feel like it had a better seal than the factory one I replaced, enough that I thought it would fix the issue. Alas, luck was not on my side. Seems to be a good product otherwise. More expensive than I hoped, but I was told to always get an OEM gas cap since aftermarket ones are finicky.

GM original part
Original equipment replacement. Fits and works well. Tether line removal is a bit tricky and challenging to seperate from gas door assembly. Used a trim tool to break it free from gas door and pliers to get retainer out to fit new one in. Be patient.

Gas caps can go bad even though they look fine.
Can't really rave about a gas cap. Overall, I'm very pleased with everything. Arrived on time and well packed. Gas cap was indeed an OEM exact fit replacement part (2010 Chevy Equinox 2.4L) and installed in just a few minutes (had to pry out old leash anchor that broke off old one). I bought this because my car was throwing the P0449 "evap leak... large leak detected" code even after I replaced the faulty evap solenoid and made sure gas cap was tight. After some trial, error, and youtube surfing I realised that a gas cap does a lot more than just cover the gas hole (haha sorry, I'll continue). Not only does the cap need to "lock" (i.e. the clicking) it also needs to hold pressure. Apparently mine wasn't. I never had it tested but decided to order a new OEM one anyway since they come in under $16.00. States right on the cap that if you don't give the cap the one click past tight the check engine light may come on. I replaced the old cap with this one and gave it the one click and... no more check engine light or trouble code. So if you're getting the P0449 code even though your gas cap is tight you might want to replace it anyway. Not going to lie, I consider myself pretty handy under the hood but never knew until recently that gas caps can go bad even though they visualy look perfectly fine. Super cheap way to rule out a leaking cap. Very pleased with this purchase!

Fits 2012 Chevy Camaro
Did not entirely solve my P0442 and P0191 but at least it rules it out. This is a wear item anyway so it's justified in purchasing this just like you replace wipers and other rubbery things on your car. It did seal considerably better than the original and I could swear I can hear it vacuum suctioning as it clicked and lo! It clicks far stronger and with a more satisfying CLICK! than the before time old one. You know what I mean right? The old one clicks weakly. This also comes with the clip so you don't have to worry about not damaging the original since you won't need it. Also for stuff like this it's worth the extra $2-3 to get OEM people. What do you really save by getting cheap aftermarket that will fail in 3-4 months is that worth popping more DTC's that you pay $150 for diagnostic or have to clear a code. Don't be pennywise and pound foolish as my granddather used to say, God rest his soul.
