Great for just playing to have fun.
My sons favorite game. 99% of leap pad games are all educational. Not that this one doesn't have it's merits but I wanted to get him something that was just fun. He uses all his games and apps but I wanted to give him something he could play with that would just let him enjoy himself sometimes. This was perfect. It does teach you a bit about life skills. How to make someone feel better. How to know if someone is down. It also teaches you how to take care of your puppy. Feed, bathe, play, train. It's my sons' favorite. He plays it quite often.

Daughter is thrilled!
I got this for my 9 year old's Santa gift. She had been begging for it. The price was best on Amazon and she is thrilled with the game. She shares her Leapster Explorer with her 5 year old sister and since they don't have any kind of video games they are happy with these. It keeps her occupied for quite a while.

It worked with Leapfrog Ultimate
My 8yr old likes it. It works. It's fun. We're happy. Worth the price. A lot of levels it tells you they have to be connected to the internet and to get mom or Dad to do it. That part of the game is annoying because we buy the leapfrog and cartridges so we DONT need the internet and no weird advertisements my son doesn't need to be exposed to. Other than that it's good.

I think it's annoying but my son loves it
I think this game is slow but my four year old loves it. Lots of counting and drawing lines. He will play it for long periods of time in the car and he doesn't get frustrated.

My son absolutely loves this game it might be his favorite explorer game! he loves taking care of his own dogs. you can dress them up, bath them, play with them, and feed them. it has a lot of options for them to choose from to make them feel like they are making their own life decisions!

fun game, buggy software code
my original quick and simple review: it's a great game, but it locks up the leappad 2 every time it's played. don't waste your money on bug-ridden software. read the lower reviews...this is a common problem. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ the manufacturer commented the following on my review: "LeapFrog Support says: (MANUFACTURER) Hello! We were alerted that this title was causing some freezing issues. We were able to determine the problem and have implemented a fix into the LeapFrog Connect application. Simply plug your device into LeapFrog Connect and allow the update, the game will no longer freeze. If you continue to experience issues, please reach out to our Customer Support team, they're at [email protected] or 1-800-701-5327. Thanks!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HOWEVER, we followed the manufacturer's recommendation and updated the game. now, rather than freeze altogether, the game will freeze and reboot the leappad 2 when performing specific actions. let me give a specific example: for those unfamiliar with the game, you can always "pet" your puppy using the stylus. the puppy will then respond with little hearts and such. you can also feed/water your puppy when they are hungry/thirsty. when attempting to feed a hungry puppy, if the food is dragged over the puppy itself, then the food bag will get stuck on the puppy (the two images will be superimposed), and the game will freeze. i was able to get the game to unhang by scrolling the screen over to the left or right, but at that point, the game crashes and the leappad 2 reboots to the home screen. the moral of the story: this is still bug-ridden software. it is a common problem and has yet to be resolved by the manufacturer. it really is a great game and is fun to play, but just expect it to freeze and or crash altogether while it is being played.

Fun Game
My daughter loves this game, shes 4 turning 5 shortly and alot of the explorer games that say they are her age range I have been disappointed that they really arent, they are almost always still a little too above her. This game has room for her to grow with it so after a year she wont find it too easy but it gives her alot to do right now too. It is not really super educational, meant to be more of a fun game than a learning game but it has some learning qualities.

My 6 year old daughter loves this game. We've had no trouble with it on our Leap Pad. It has continued to hold her interest.

Both my kids (Daughter 5, Son 4) love this game, they love taking their intial chosen dog out and about, dressing them up, making friends with other pets in the game and going to the dog shows, where the children have to answer questions (according to the set level of difficulty) for them to compete for the 1st prize. A great interactive game.

I purchased this game when it was on offer at £12.99, however after seeing my daughter playing this for hours on end I would have happily paid full price for it. I would highly recommend this game for any child, especially ones who love animals! My daughter is four and has no problems working out how to wash, feed and look after the puppies. A must buy! Delivery from Amazon superb.

My 4 year old daughter scratched the screen on her 3ds & we bought her the Leappad 2 instead. She wasn't very happy to begin with as she couldn't play Nintendo but then we found this & she hasn't looked back. It's better for her age group as it teaches about social situations & feelings etc, which is something that Nintendo doesn't do :)

My 4 year old daughter loves it and plays it on a regular basis. Not as complicated as I thought so perfect for her age range. Nice to know she is also being educated at the same time.
