Dorman 924-897 Ignition Lock Cylinder for Select Saturn Models

The ignition cylinder arrived ahead of promised schedule, and the instructions were easy to understand. I had the old one out without too much difficulty (because it was so old and no lube left.) Everything I needed to replace the cylinder was included in the package, incuding new grease, and I was able to install the replacement in mere seconds. I liked that the shipper includer the plastic key trim piece surrounding the ingition, as the old one had chips missing from years of hard useage. I would recommend this all my friends that work on cars. And the price was better than trying to source it locally.

Works perfect, on the other hand, GM changed my VIN key and I haven't changed my ignition, so verdict! GM didn't want to fix older cars even if they are working perfectly. So don't trust VIN cut keys unless they are new.

Took about 10 tries of jiggle and wiggle to remove the old one. After old was out new went in easy. In fact I quickly removed the new one 4 times to see how easy it was to remove and install. Comes with tube of lube. If your going to lean on the emergency brake and gear shift as I did get a big pillow. Your back will thank you. My all metal replacement old keys I still need for doors and trunk. But the new keys are similar to OEM with big black plastic end. So no problem with ID of which is which. Note: be careful reinstalling steering column shrouds 5 screws just snug them up. Screw heads are 5.5mm or 7/32. Thanks Dorman! Needed to replace my 2001 Saturn SL ignition key cylinder, old cylinder was binding, occasionally I was unable to turn the key to start my Saturn and had to work to get the key to turn. Simple video available on YOUTUBE with install instructions.

Once manahed to get the old one out it was very easy to put it in. The car started at the first attempt to turn the key in the lock.

Hello.Once I got old key cylinder out,the new one went in just fine.Getting the car to start was another story.If you follow utube,chances are the video doesn't suit year 2002sl1 model.If you have problems getting your car to start after new key and cylinder,ask me for a tip that may help.Other than that great key and cylinder combo.Service was great and on time.
