Thinking about this knife? Go for it!
What can I say? It's a Spyderco. It came sharp, opens smooth, has decent weight to it and it's a small enough size for EDC but big enough to be impressive to others. This is my first Spyderco but not my first well-known brand pocket knife. My other go-to is a Benchmade Mini Griptilian which definitely gives this thing a run for it's money – especially when comparing price and features. One thing I don't really like about the Delica 4 is the back lock but that is more a personal opinion than a good reason to deduct a star. I knew fully what I was getting when I bought this knife as I had done much research on a lot of Spyderco knives prior to buying. The iconic thumb hole is a great assist to open the knife and any knife enthusiast can tell it's a Spyderco when you whip it out. I like how you can customize it fairly easily with new scales and deep pocket clips (check eBay if you're considering it). I would highly suggest a deep pocket clip as the butt of the knife sits up above the edge of your pocket when carrying – although it does stay in your pocket very well; stock clip has good tension. The all black design with the half and half blade is very rugged looking and fits my personal style. This is a great starting knife for someone looking to get into collecting knives. I am considering getting my girlfriend one to keep in her car because it's small enough that a woman could carry it comfortably (in the car, purse, etc.); might be too big for some ladies but hey if you ever need it for protection it'll do the job. The next installment I am looking to get is most likely the Paramilitary 2, which is a typical step up from the Delica 4, or just go balls to the wall and get the high profile Domino flipper. Either way, Spyderco has done a great job in their development of knives and it sure has sparked that need to advance my collection.

Outstanding blade quality - even better than the usual Spyderco excellence. VG10 Japanese steel. Lightweight at 71 grams
At first I was skeptical, as my Kershaw Leek was easy to deploy. But I had a collection of CRKT, Spyderco, and other knives - and the Spyderco blades (whether 8Cr13MoV or otherwise) were always the best. They always came out of the box razor sharp, kept their edges, and were easy to maintain. I decided to give the Delica 4 a try since the blade was under 3 inches and its advertised weight was very low. That is primarily due to the fiberglass reinforced nylon handle with thinner/reduced weight liners molded into the nylon. The material is very similar (if not the same) as the Dupont Zytel Nylon used for seat belt buckles, M4 stocks, Glock receivers, intake manifolds, and a large variety of common composites that are durable. The VG10 steel is made in Seki City Japan, and comes out of the box razor sharp. Feeling the edge with my fingernail, it is very very smooth. It glides through paper and the blade material even looks/feels different from common Chinese knives. The handle is bolted on, but this just allows you to customize how you want to clip it - which is a huge plus in my opinion. The price is a bit higher than the average everyday carry knife, but it is worth every penny. The Delica 4 weighs 71 grams. Kershaw Leek weighs 88 grams. Spyderco Ambitious G10 (2.25" blade) weighs 85 grams. So the Delica 4 is lighter than either of those knives, which are already fairly light and compact. Overall: 5/5 stars Spyderco hasn't failed me yet. I wish I knew about the Delica 4 sooner!

I purchased on OKC RAT 2 and really like it. That knife is well weighted
I purchased on OKC RAT 2 and really like it. That knife is well weighted, came razor sharp & it is extremely smooth with 1 handed opening. It is right at 3" though, which could be problematic in L.A., depending on the mood of the police officer. So after researching, I purchased the Spyderco Delica 4. It is a great knife, the blade is just under 3", but the handle has a little more real estate than others of this size. All in all I'm happy with my purchase. I deducted a star, because it is no where near as smooth to open out of the box as the RAT 2. It does have a lock back vs the liner lock on the RAT 2, and I'm hoping it will smooth out with use. It can be opened one handed, but it's just not smooth or fast at this point. I had to come back and adjust my rating to 5 stars on this Beautiful & L.A. legal Spyderco. I initially deducted a star because it wasn't smooth opening. Well, after playing with it, opening and closing it for a few weeks, this knife has become very smooth! I also get the bidirectional grip on the handle, very ingenious! The grip nearest the blade bites into your fingers if you push forward (meaning, if you are pushing the blade into something, it provides 'traction' and your fingers won't slip!) On the other end of the handle, the direction is reversed, so it bites into your fingers when you have the knife clipped and you are reaching to pull it out, you get a good grip! - Love this knife!

Current Everyday Carry Knife, exactly what I was looking for.
Spyderco's Delica 4 is exactly what I was looking for in an EDC knife. It is also the 3rd Spyderco I've owned, with the others being the Dragonfly 2 and the Tenacious. The Delica 4 is the perfect balance between those two when it comes to blade length, combination plain/serrated edge, weight, and locking mechanism. Previously I've carried Benchmade, Leatherman, and Victorinox as EDC knifes. What I like about Spyderco is the easy one handed operation with their signature thumb hole, as well as superb quality for the price point. I've found that though more than capable, I rather not mess up a Benchmade with normal day to day tasks, but in Spyderco's I've found great knives that I'm less hesitant to use rougher. Compared to the Tenacious, the Delica 4 is easier to carry, more lightweight, and of higher quality. Opens easy, and very ergonomic grip. Strong positive locking mechanism, and carry it comfortably inside the waistband all day without noticing.

Awesome knife
Great knife. Love the versatility of the blade. I had my last one for 7 years before I lost it. Great knife but the price doubled.

Just a Great Pocket Knife
Just a Great Pocket Knife. This is actaully my second Delica, since I lost my first one on vacation. I didn't consider anyhing else because I loved my first one after over a year of ownership. My new one is foliage green (my first one was black). I like the color-it's less conspicous clipped inside my pocket. The pocket clip is well designed not to snag. It holds tight onto any type of material including slippery polyester. This Delica knife is lightweight, unfolds, and refolds easily and naturally. It locks open with confidence. The blade is great (that;s what makes the knife great). It stays sharp and the partially serrrated edge does not dominate the whole knife edge. That is, there is enough standard edge to make the knife useful for most jobs. The edge stays sharp through most tasks. It shapens easily. The serrated edge is very useful for cutting rope. It cuts easily through even thick nylon rope. The hand grip is very "grippy" and has a natural overall curve in the palm of my hand. Even with wet or seaty hands the grip stays fast. I will never regret buying this knife. If I loose this one I will replace it with the same.

Great EDC, sharp, solid build and finish from Japan.
I wanted a true EDC knife with quality materials and build. The Delica 4 lightweight fit the bill perfectly. Highs -True EDC that slips into the inner pocket of your jeans or pants. You don't feel it's there. -Nice saber grind VG-10 steel, made in Japan. Utilitarian vibe to the design. -All mech is nice and slick out of the box, no stiffness in flicking it open. Back lock feel safe and secure. -FRN material and texture feels great, solid in hand. Grippy. -Feel there's good value given the materials, design, and fit/finish. Lows -None. Except the handle is on the edge of being too small for my grip, but just makes the "cut". Make sure you figure out the ideal grip you want from the EDC.

awesome knife
I received this knife and was very pleased . It arrived razor sharp out of the box . It feels great just holding it and i found myself not wanting to put it down . I love the spydie hole for one handed opening . The reviews on the vg-10 steel have all been great and so far the edge has held up well . An awesome knife . Buy one , you won't be disappointed Updated: As a newly converted spyderco fan , Let me warn all readers. I am not responsible for the money which you will spend after buying your first Syderco. Blame Sal for making such great products . Now on with the review . The Delica legacy has been around for a while now (now on version 4 ) and their is a reason . These are fantastic knives well worth the money. My Delica is a saber grind that was , as usual, razor sharp out of the box . I've had this knife for a couple of months now and I use it for e.d.c rotating out with a Byrd meadowlark . Have I sharpened it in this time , yes I have . Did it need it, not really , but I like sharpening my knives . There is nothing I can find to say negative about this knife . So if you expect this to be a Spyderco bashing ,It's not gonna happen . I think this is the perfect knife to start with for anyone wanting to try a Spyderco .The VG-10 steel is an awesome steel that will, not only hold an edge , it will get extremely sharp with the right patience and a light touch . I re-profiled mine to my lanski which varied the 30° bevel ,that most Spyderco's are, slightly smaller and it is very ,very sharp. I usually finish up with a light stropping on the leather . The knife holds up to everything I do as a maintenance man on a daily basis and begs for more . Those of you who have not held a Spyderco , all I can tell you is it's very addictive . It fits in your hand and just feels right , I find myself reaching over and opening and closing it for no reason all the time. It really annoys the wife . The finish on this knife is superb . the blade is dead center with no side slack. The lock is solid and very smooth . And if you haven't used a Spydie hole , let me tell you it is a very smooth deployment of the blade . Way better than thumb pegs . The FRN (Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon) handle is very comfortable and offers a secure , non-slipping grip . The jimping on the spine of the knife is just enough not to slip , but not enough to hang on your pocket . I personally don't like a jimping thats to aggressive and this one is not . The clip can be installed tip-up ,tip-down , left or right hand . I just can't find anything that I see that needs changing . If your undecided about buying a Spyderco knife , then spend 50 bucks on this one. You won't be disappointed P.S. And like I said , When you find yourself with Syderco knives laying around you everywhere , It's SAL's fault !!!
