Product Description Here is the perfect DVD for Amy fans to experience her magic. The DVD features a 50 minute film piece covering the rise of Amy over the last 4 years. Included are TV appearances, live shows, unseen footage of early performances, plus interviews with Amy's father an a unique insight into the artist herself in some rare filmed interviews. Also included is a 60 minute live concert from London's Shepherds Bush Empire. This title carries a parental advisory. .com Amy Winehouse scored a UK hit with 2003's Frank, but her follow-up is another story. Released in 2007, Back to Black blew up worldwide. So, the bouffant belter took her soulful show on the road. It turned out to be a short trip; after only a few dates, she canceled her North American tour due to "severe exhaustion." Fortunately, I Told You I Was Trouble captures the petite powerhouse before personal problems sidelined her for the rest of the year. Recorded live at London's Shepherd's Bush, Winehouse and nine-piece ensemble, including two smooth-moving back-up singers, blast through 13 originals and four covers, including the Zutons' "Valerie" and the Specials' "Hey Little Rich Girl." Vivacious voice aside, Winehouse looks uncomfortable at times, alternately awkward and endearing. Yes, she drinks, but insecurity appears to be as much to blame as (possible) inebriation, though she does loosen up after awhile. And there's some good stuff here, especially the Ronettes-inspired "Back to Black" and "Rehab." As her albums attest, Winehouse is one of the decade's most electrifying artists, but the stage may not be the best showcase for her abilities--not yet, at any rate. While I Told You I Was Trouble isn't the triumph it could've been, it isn't a train wreck either. The informative 50-minute documentary features interviews with Winehouse, her proud papa, and the A&R representative who signed her to Island Records. One of the ladys more interesting revelations: "The more insecure I get, the bigger my hair has to be." --Kathleen C. Fennessy

Hoped against hope, now grateful for what is left...
Although the frequency of Amy's onstage drinking is unsettling to watch (and would be even if she were still here), the performance itself is critical and undeniable evidence of her original vocal abilities. Even when inebriated near the end, her vocals were spot on, and her memory intact enough to carry on where most people wouldn't remember their own home address - even with their ID in their hand. It's said that everything is recycled, but the basic human endeavor/imperative is such that each artist, although an amalgam of what may have gone before, can stop time by focusing their individual filter and thus make a brand new reality. Amy did that with her voice, her ability to connect to her audience, her sharp sense of songwriting and, maybe most dangerously, her willingness to share what must have been raw and painful events set to music. Most of us can forget or re-write those times, and thus be saved by our own mediocrity. She apparently didn't give herself that bit of grace, and even selected songs from other writers sharing hopelessness along those same poetic lines. Singing these stories night after night was no cathartic exercise; it was pain on display the way people will slow down to view victims of a car accident. The differences were the originality of her voice and the honesty of her words.Nonetheless, this disc also gives a clue about how powerful Amy would've become had she granted herself the perspective of a survivor believing in love, with a heart made all the more precious for the battered scars sustained in growth. There will be other singers, but her brief time here will be remembered. Thanks for the legacy, Miss Amy.

Her reputation got my attention before I even knew of her music. One day I just got tired of hearing what a "bad" "girl" she was and set out to find out did she have talent to go with the bad rep.I was impressed. I love her style. She reminds me of a cross between Macy Gray, and Sade. She has that different vocal style like Macy's, and her onstage performance reminds me of Sade, though she has a while to go before I would consider her to be "up there" with Sade. And I must say, I've never seen a performer wet their throat as often as she did in this performance, but even so, I loved this concert and her version of "Love is Loosing Game" is the best that I've heard on her other recordings. I bought the single with the different versions of that particular song, but the one from this concert was not on it and I was disappointed. I really enjoyed the entire performance and I've watched and listened to it many times.I loved her band. Each musician is highly talented. Watching each of them was as pleasurable as watching Amy Winehouse. If she can manage not to be derailed by alcohol and drugs, I look forward to hearing more from her.

Winehouse video
I enjoyed the type of music - a fresh take on classic jazz, motown, and ska. The band is outstanding, full of energy and fun to watch. Amy's voice is very natural although it is true that as the performance goes on, she appears a bit inebriated. However, for me, this factor did not ruin the musical message. I enjoyed seeing the documentary about how Amy became famous and the history behind some of the songs. I'm impressed with how down to earth she can be off the stage. Overall, this is a great video to sit down and relax with - it is also perfect for having on in the background at a party to liven things up. It's colorful, artsy, unique, and not disturbingly loud or obnoxious.

A-MA-ZING (but don't mix the two)
This just came in the mail for me today and I was ecstatic because I already knew what to expect --->not only because I'd watched clips from it on youtube, but because I know the powerful voice that Amy has.And of course, it was amazingly incredible and I could barely contain myself the whole time. It's so incredible. But you can't mix the two factors of it ---> don't mix the person with the voice. In a respectful response to one of the previous reviews, I must say that I agree to a certain extent. It is really hard to watch if you're only watching it to see what a wreck Amy's life is. It's hard to see that and not feel anything. But if you can listen to her music objectively, from a stand-point of 'I want to hear great music and Amy produces great music', then this dvd would be perfect for you <3

Amy Winehouse Live
Amy is now deceased at age 27. We will never know the heights which she may reached. However, during her short life she provided a talented blend of vocalproductions. During this DVD, her speech was not clear at times. But her singing was some of her best. Her song, "Rehab", was the most memorable becauseof its quality, as well as her conflicted attitude toward full rehab. I would recommend it to fans of Amy and persons who are interested in a unique blend of soul, blues, rock.

Amy Winehouse At Her BEST!!!
I rate this video 5 stars!! I consider myself an admirer of Amy Winehouse and of all the concerts I've seen this is the BEST!!! Also her performance in London at Porchester Hall was also very good. Nearly every song you want to hear Amy sing is on this video. Her performance is truly heartfelt. I love her band and backup singers!! The delivery was fast and the video came wrapped so I know it was brand new. Would order again if the Porchester Hall (2007) video was offered. Miss you Amy :( but glad you left your legacy for future generations to enjoy!!! :)
