John Newton was a name that I was familiar with because of the hymn Amazing Grace as well as the movie "Amazing Grace", but I really knew very little about him other than he was a slave trader who became saved. It was awesome to read the story and see God's hand all over him from childhood on. What an impact his life made, and considering how he started out it didn't really look like much was going to happen. I would say these books are suitable for ages 6 or 7 and up. Well worth adding to any library. Review: very well written! - You can see the book play out in your mind as you read it. The authors did such a good job of gathering all the proper information and putting it all together.

Great biography, well written!
Excellent story! My kids and I have been going through all the books in this series and its hard to choose a favorite! Excellent!
Excellent and detailed. I had heard of John Newton because of William Wilberforce. I knew William had been the champion of abolishing the slave trade and fought the battle for about 20 years and that seed had been planted by John. I didn't know much else about him except the obvious "amazing grace" hymn (not the original name) He led an interesting life and escaped death so many times. How MERCIFUL is God! I listened to this CD during a road trip and was captivated the entire time. A good guy !!

Well researched and written
We have read most of the series and our 6th grade grand daughter has read them all. The biographies in this series are far better than any others we have read over the years. I read these out loud to my wife while she is doing he exercise routine. I plan to read all of them.

Moving story for any age
Enjoyed reading this along with my 11 year old son at the same time. One of the aspects I appreciate is how John Newton is portrayed as a normal human being rather than an over idolized hero. Well done and thank you for producing such high quality literature.
