Laguiole en Aubrac Handmade Knife 12 cm L0212GEIF Juniper Wood Handle, Blade and bolsters Stainless Steel

Not sure why I bought this knife, perhaps just because I could. I don't know how today's "farmers/shepherds" can afford one. Maybe they just have their father's or grandfather's knife. I also don't know what the maker of my knife was paid, but that person earned every centime/Euro. The metal work on the one piece spring/"bee," while not "jewelry," is flawlessly executed in an elegantly simple design. The still fragrant juniper scales are fitted perfectly.This classic design does not have a locking device to hold it open, same as my Boy Scout knife from decades ago. The 9cm cutting edge is very sharp, so just do as our fore bearers did and be a careful grownup. Thank heavens the Brits have no say in this gorgeous French tool! Even the wood box it comes in is very well made. The seams are "visible to the eye, but not to the touch." I feel fortunate to have one.

Forge da laguiole... is the name of a company that makes the laguiole knife in the town laguiole but they do not own the name itself for the name is not a trademark it is the name of the town in France there are three companies in France that make these knives that are ahead of stream high-quality and this is one of them the other all three companies make excellent high-end laguiole knives

The knife itself is quite nice. Handmade quality is really good. Feels great in my hand. Performs beautifully, cutting bread, cheese, and sausages with ease. Only drawback is that it did not arrive with its linen bag to store the knife when not in use. For the price paid for a finely crafted hand made knife to not have a proper included linen bag is not a good feeling. Other than that I am happy with this purchase.

After looking at this knife for a very long time, I decided to purchase. I receive the knife Monday 6/22. It’s beautiful and everything I expected. As I continue to admire the knife and inspect it, I realize the tip is completely bent. It had to have happened during the final sharpening. I order an new one and waited patiently for 4 days. I’m finally emailed that you will not be sending my replacement. This was a Father’s Day gift from my children, why show several left in inventory, but wait 4 days to tell me you won’t be replacing it. Just bad service.

I misread the description--my bad--and when I saw the knife I received, I knew right away it wasn't the quality and craftsmanship I've seen in the several Forge de Laguiole knives I've bought. There are gaps between various components, and the "bee" on this knife is an obvious attempt at the intricately carved bee on the Forge de Laguiole knives. I returned it immediately.
