why does debris stop prior to entering the net, then float to the edge of net and go around it??

The key to skimming efficiency is the water flow ahead of the leaf rake net. The closer the net is to the pump return jet, the better the skimmer action will work. If you have good flow going into the net, you may improve debris collection if you angle the net slightly so the water flows better closer to the pool wall. Even with weaker flow, debris that goes around the net eventually moves closer to the pool wall as it moves around the pool and is captured, it just takes longer.

What is the max size skimmer net that can be used with this product?

Fully extended, it should accommodate a 20" wide net.

How and where do you purchase the net

Thanks for your interest in Leaf Bone. We designed the clip to "grip" most leaf nets...the clip has a tapered diameter to hold and grip the handle of the leaf rake net, so it works with some variation in handle sizes. I recommend a "square-ish" shape to give you more adjustment for water level and mounting location on the ladder. On Amazon, the Swimline Professional Heavy Duty Deep Bag Pool Rake – Blue is often purchased with Leaf Bone, or others are similar. If you end up with a net that is a little loose in the clip, you can use the white plastic buttons in the net handle to hold the net in the clip...worst case, a little tape around the net handle can improve the fit. We hope this won’t be necessary.

Do you still have to use a skimmer basket too?

YES. The skimmer basket is necessary to keep any large debris from getting into the pump and filter. However, if the skimmer basket gets full of leaves, it can restrict water flowing to the pump which is not good. Using a leaf rake net attached to our kit helps to keep your skimmer basket from getting plugged up with heavy leaves and debris. Our Leaf Bone Kit is designed to be a supplemental leaf skimmer especially if your pool is surrounded by trees.

Great already, but made an improvement

This little gizmo is AWESOME!! I am surrounded by trees, so emptying my skimmer is a 3 or 4 times a day thing. The Leaf Bone works! It doesn't get it all, but it has significantly reduced the amount of junk that gets sucked into the skimmer by about 90%. To me, that translates to the pump not working as hard, adding to its longevity. That's a huge win! The thing just paid for itself.The only thing I didn't like is that per the instructions, it's supposed to be screwed into the top rail of my aboveground pool. I didn't want to drill holes in my brand new pool, so I rigged up the Bone mount with a good strong magnet. Now it's perfect! With the magnet I can also reposition it as needed with no holes, no base or screws sticking out waiting to snag and rip my winter cover either. That's right... Reeeal men of geeeeenius....

It’s fine. Little expensive, you can certainly buy the tools at Home Depot but worth appreciate the mechanic design for sure.

Works great, wish there was more height adjustment.

This works great, but would like to see a longer T Connector so there is more height adjustment options. Currently when my pool is full of rainwater (anything above 2" below the top of skimmer) the net will not go high enough to do it's job. Other than that this is a great product

Awesome Simple Product!

I was a little skeptical that this product would work, but it has completely changed us having to skim our pool for leaves and bugs. It catches everything very nicely and is super easy to install. We love it! I wish we had found it sooner. It was also at a great price point.

So far great!

Just got the pool filled and pump on. I always have to worry about whirley birds filling up my skimmer basket, but now I don’t as much. A few things sneak around it but it collects so much more! Very happy! Now for the dog hair this summer…we shall see
