Very well made low profile folding muffs for shotgunners
Very well made low profile folding muffs. Heavy plastic ear shells, durable and flexible headband , and comfortable ear pads. Good noise suppression for 12 ga. shotgun. Spring action pops them into compact folded position very easily, and also assists with easy unfolding. Once they are popped back out from folded position, you can spread them and pull down onto your head till you get desired fit. Ear shell size and profile seem ideal as they do not interfere with getting my head down on shotgun stock

Good for the Price
This review is for the low profile, green, adult version, while most others are for the youth versions. Suppresses noise adequately, but not as much as the larger/heavier models that also interfere with stock to cheek mold. Allow you to keep the stock of a shotgun or rifle closer to the face. Pack down compactly, but are a little stiff to open up and tight to place on your head. Had them for about a year. Would buy again.

Pro Quality Hearing Protection Sized For Youth
Caldwell has stepped up with the introduction of electronic hearing protection for use at firing ranges that has been properly sized for youth to wear. No longer is a person of smaller stature required to wear a large clunky set of static or electronic hearing protectors that are both uncomfortable and often too oversized to be effective. In addition this series of passive hearing protection comes in fun colors to give a sense of style to those youth who may be put off by wearing some sort of dark electronic ear muffs. The packaging is very well done, and there is a clear instruction sheet provided. Batteries provided. A major plus is a push button on the side for On/Off. Many other brands use a rotating dial turn knob for this. In this case this ear protection is either on or positively turned off. The operation is kept simple. The look is modern, with stylish angularity. The fit is snug. It is meant for smaller heads. An adult will find this too tight. The snug fit is essential to have the protection part of this function to work correctly. The normal function of electronic passive hearing protection is to allow the wearer to hear normal conversation at an easily audible volume, as that conversation is amplified into the ear enclosure.. No need to lift off an ear piece away from the head to hear what an instructor or range safety officer has just said. That is heard clearly. When a firearm is fired in close proximity, the hearing protection circuit cuts in and instantly turns off all amplification in the ear pieces and the headset dumbs down as if it is a set of conventional hearing protectors, shielding the ear from sudden , intense decibel damage. After the fired shot subsides, the circuit automatically reopens and amplified hearing is permitted.Pros: Easy On/Off switch Properly sized for youth shooters or observers Attractive color options Smart styling Live range confirmation that they workCons: None observed so far.Kudos to Caldwell for recognizing the need for protective passive hearing protection for the youth shooter. I am glad I came upon this item and it will be used by our family for the upcoming season. Recommended.

Compact protection but amplification feature is so so
Hearing protection is a must for everyone. Loud impact noises can easily damage one's hearing. This youth hearing protection is interesting. It's very compact when folded up and very light. However, one problem I found is that it kept wanting to fold up to itself when it's not on the head. Along with it is a sizing mechanism that basically like you push or pull to change the size. These things are also very tight on the head in order to get a good seal for hearing protection. There is a feature that lets the child hear environmental sounds and voices by turning on the feature through push of a button. My daughter said while neat, it amplifies ALL quiet sounds. It picks up every little noise as if giving you super hearing, but there is also a very noticeable continuous annoying hiss. There is a volume control consisting of two buttons which made it a little better. The great thing about this is, it also let you use it in regular passive mode without the amplification. The battery cover was difficult to pop open. You need a flat head screwdriver to pop it open. It takes 3 AAA batteries which were included in the box.
