The Message of 2 Timothy (The Bible Speaks Today Series) Paperback – August 13, 1984

Absolutely one of the best commentary series out today. Super blend of technical and practical insight. I own all of this series and it is my go to because it is written with practical pastoral insights for sermon building. And you have to keep in mind why that’s is: John Stott. Stott was a true pioneer in valuing academic integrity but doing so with simple communication skills. He was brilliant, but ruthlessly committed to simple execution of truth speaking. Stott didn’t see sermons as the place where a preacher impresses an audience with their theological acumen. All of which shows up in this series as he is its general overseer.

Like all of Stott's work, the exposition in this volume is sober, reasonable, and clear. This series is designed for the average church member to grasp and receive profit. Hence, Stott mostly avoids meaty, involved discussions. Nevertheless, any student of the Bible whose primary concern is understanding and applying the text will benefit from this work.

I have been a student of John Stott for some little while now and I am always filled with deep gratitude to my pastor who introduced him to me. Thought provoking, very insightful and most of all I come away with the desire to know this God better and better, such is the thirst Stott creates with his commentaries. What a privilege to be a student of his!

Who doesn't love this author's work! Mr Stott is a thinking man and it is reflected in his commentaries. 2 Timothy ins no exception. I am enjoying every chapter and use his insights for my own personal growth. I thank God for faithful men like this.

Has a lot for one to study and to meditate on. I am not quite finished with the book but it does lead me in the right direction. I personally like John Stott's writing style.

Very useful outline for small group discussions. I recommend it!
