Q: Does this actually works ?

This works! A small blob of gel on a mousetrap is simple to apply, then set the trap and put it in place. This has never drawn ants in my experience, unlike cheese or peanut butter. Dozens of mice caught using this around our property.

Q: the 2 oz bottle is 1/2 full and the gel is so thick it can't be squeezed out of the bottle. How can I fill the bate cup?

mine was too thick to come out of the squeeze thing too. so i opened the bottle, used a toothpick to put just a dot of of into the trap, and it's caught 2 mice in less than 2 hours so far. way better than peanut butter, cheese, or bacon grease that i've used so far. find a way to use it. it works!

mine was a thick liquid it did not stay well on mouse traps.
