MPC Space: 1999 Eagle II Model - Preassembled Painted Model of The Eagle II Spaceship 1/72 Scale 22 inch Handcrafted Replica of The Original Model Used to Film Space: 1999

This is a high quality model that looks very good displayed on my book shelf. I really enjoy looking at it and find it inspiring for new ideas. Today I decided to remove the passenger pod that is held by two small screws. I took out the pod and the model looks fantastic like it is ready for a new pod to be installed. As I looked at the top of the model aft of the command capsule I noticed a detail that had remained hidden in plain sight. Down between the main spine cross members is a very small miniature of a NASA Lunar Module detailed except for landing gear. I find this to be a very clever design detail by Brian Johnson. He had said he got his inspiration from looking at a Lunar Module so just maybe it is his way of paying tribute to this historical craft and epic event. Anyway I had to let you all know so if you own one of these MPC Eagle Transporter models from round two you can marvel in this little detail that is humorous and very clever at the same time. I took a iPhone picture but could not get it to download. However I am very confident you will find it. Look at the top view of the model. You can see it directly in the centerline aft of the command capsule between the main spine cross members. Also the detail is on the top view aft of the main engine section down between the main spine cross members. So it is located twice on the top of the model. I am very happy to tell you about this little detail about a very epic first landing on the moon. Thank you and hope you enjoy your new model.

First off, this is one beautiful model. The Eagle Transporter is perhaps my favorite sci-fi space vehicle. And since my modeling skills are marginal now that I have failing eyes and arthritis in the hands, a prebuilt Eagle seemed the way to go. So I purchased this. Opening the box I was impressed with the way it all looked. Taking the body out to inspect it was something else. The landing great fell out of the pod. And looking at how there was no prep time to properly trim the flash and sprue points off kind of irritated me. I mean, for the price you pay for these models there should be some modest quality control going on. All in all, a fairly beautiful model.

Great prebuilt model for display, not a toy but fun for adults. Shop around and don't pay retail for this one. It can be had for about $249.99 with free shipping too(about $80.00 off retail). Shop and save! Added metal engine bells and thrusters to this one for an additional $106.00 but what the heck it is a spacecraft and cost over runs are bound to come into it sometime. Eagle 2 out!

Great price compared to what it usually costs.

Es caro, pero cumple con todo lo que promete. El modelo es sencillamente ESPECTACULAR. Mide 55cm de largo y es ancho, asi que hay que tener un buen estante donde colocarlo. Solo es necesario acoplar unas piezas a la maqueta con un poco de pegamento y ya esta. Los detalles son muy buenos. Viene pintada y montada, como he dicho solo hace falta ponerle algunos apliques. Muy recomendable

Pour ceux qui n'ont pas la "main verte" en maquettisme, ce modèle pré-assemble est une vraie réussite!Certes, le prix est élevé mais la qualité est au rendez-vous.Reçu emballé dans son carton d'emballage d'origine, contenant la boite du modèle lui-même... bien protégé pour le transport donc!Mes seules critiques concernent des décalcomanies posées de travers, et le numéro de "série limitée à 750 exemplaires" peu évident à trouver (pas de certificat, mais 2 petites décalcomanies numérotées sur le modèle).

Je voulais une maquette parfaite mais sans la monter car non maquettiste et non intéressé pour le devenir. Bah elle est là en fait. Seul bémol (tout petit bémol) est qu'on voit deux visses au dessus et un cache blanc dessus aurait permis à cette maquette d'atteindre la perfection absolue. Objet à plus de 450 euros quand même donc la valeur se paye mais comme elle les vaut... :-) Grande et légère cette maquette est incroyablement géniale, tout comme son prix. ;-)
