I'm Forever Hooked.
I can't tell you how much I love this stuff. I had never heard of avjar until a couple of years ago when I tried it in Florida. I've been hooked ever since. Sadly, the little business where I discovered it was destroyed by the hurricane. I was so happy to find it on Amazon as I can't find it locally. I put it on everything. I even watched about twenty videos on YouTube on how to make it and gave it my best shot and I'm a pretty good cook. I can recreate just about anything. Anything except this. Mine didn't compare. if you've never tried it give it a shot. You'll be glad you did. Great on hummus, on a crusty bit of sourdough with a good ricotta and a drizzle of good olive oil. Spread it on grilled chicken, as a dip, on a turkey sandwich, etc. Just delicious.

Good sauce to have on hand to jazz up flavor.
Very nice pimento flavor. No hot. Good spread for sandwiches. Especially Italian sandwiches. Add a couple of big tablespoons to a jar of spaghetti sauce to jazz it up. Nice sweet pimento flavor.

Crappy containers break easily
I ordered this along with another brand to compare. Both came wrapped in bubble wrap. This ones glass jar was busted. The company doesn't allow refunds. You must contact amazon customer service. My advice to the maker would be to either go with plastic or buy higher grade glass jars.

Tasty, creamy, more eggplanty than other ajvars
Found this randomly at a European grocery store. Paid $6 for a huge jar of it. I've tried this and a few other varieties. I'm not from Eastern Europe, so I'm not going to get into a pointless argument about "authentic" or not. I prefer the Podravka Ajvar over this, but I would not complain if this was all I could find. This has a bit more eggplant and less red pepper in it, so the flavor is more lumpy creamy and less chunky than the other types. It has a very nice, mild, complementary flavor to basically everything. Once I tried Ajvar, I was like, why isn't everyone in the world using this stuff? It's just so good as a universal spread on pitas, burgers, sausages, gyros, falafel.
