Good product
Worked perfect but try dropper first because it’s very viscous.

Easy Vitamin K
We got these at the advice of our healthcare provider to give to our child. It's easy to dose and I feel confident in the quality knowing it's from Biotics Research.

Great as substitute for vitamin K shot
I got this to use as a substitute for the vitamin K shot when I had my baby five weeks ago. I didn't want to go with the shot so I went with this as suggested by both my midwife and pediatrician. In case you were curious the suggested dosage is four drops on the day of the birth, and two drops on the same day each week for an extended period of time (there are different recommendations) The method of administering is to put the drop on your finger, rub it on the inside of the babies cheek, and then nurse a little between each drop. My baby did not seem to mind the taste, though I have heard it is bitter. My baby boy was circumcised during week three and there were no issues with bleeding (that was the main reason why I was wanting to administer vitamin K in the first place) so I am no longer going to be administering the drops. It served its purpose and my baby boy is wonderful and healthy and thriving!

Alternative to Newborn Vit K Shot? Read here.
Do your own research and make your own informed decisions about your newborns. The Vit K shot has two options: one with preservatives and one without. Not all hospitals carry both. You need to ask them during your hospital tour or you can just walk in and ask. Yes, babies are deficient in Vit K at birth and yes, vitamin K is not absorbed as easily via ingestion/GI tract early on in their life. The intramuscular shot is the best way to get a high dose into your baby's body. However, it is way, way more Vit K than they need. Lot of speculation about this inducing jaundice. Our baby did not have jaundice nor did we let our baby get the Vit K shot. Could be anecdotal, but who knows? Bring it to the hospital! Order it in advance! Give baby their first dose within 24 hours of birth. Ideally, give during a feed of breastmilk, colostrum, or formula. Not without, but would probably be OK. Might just have upset stomach. Many countries are discontinuing the Vit K shot and going back to oral drops. Some countries don't do anything for it and their babies are widely doing just fine. God did a good job when he designed our bodies! Don't discount that! Humans have been giving birth for millennia without Vit K intervention. Almost all pediatricians (hospital or private practice) will really impress upon you the need to get it. Ours did! And she even tried to talk to mama when I stepped out. She must've thought she could convince her. Thankfully, we were united in our decision. Just goes to shown they push this hard! Some with good intentions, others because it's just their "policy." We did our own research and made a plan and have not strayed from it. Our baby is perfectly healthy so far. Less than two months old. Product is supposed to be thick and yellow. It is emulsified. I even called the company to confirm its appearance. They are based in Richmond, TX. You have to squeeze the drops out. It does not flow on its own. Drops onto finger, finger into babies mouth, put finger on roof of mouth, let them suck. They may not suck at birth, so just get it in and watch them kind of swallow. We found a plan online that we liked and have been following it closely. It states 4 drops within 24 hours of birth, 3 drops after one week, and 2 drops after another week. Continue with 2 drops every week until baby reaches six months old. We put three, spaced out reminders in our calendars for every Thursday. I will not list the establishment by name of the place who provided the guidelines for us. However, they are a private medical practice with hundreds of positive online reviews and were very thorough in their outline for administering the shot vs drops. After doing my own research beforehand, I really liked what I saw on their website and followed it.

Avoiding the injection
I used this product to bypass the vitamin K shot for my newborn in the hospital. I applied 4 drops directly to the mouth around 6 hours after birth and followed with one drop each week. The dispense is off and drops don’t come in equal volumes but I don’t consider that a big deal.

Thick Glob vs Liquid "Drop"
Just note that the liquid is thick so the "drop" is more like a glob when it comes out and you have to really squeeze the bottle.

Newborn Substitution for Vaccine
Declined Vitamin K drops at birth. Brought this with me in my hospital bag. Administered based on people in comments. Husband gave him 4 drops day of birth on a Wednesday. Every following Wednesday we gave him two drops. He was circumcised on week 6. Stopping now, baby is thriving. However, I have a Vitamin K deficiency (which existed and was solved once a few years ago) and will take this for myself!
