Well Conceived Design, Great Sound Quality, Great Compilation!
This 2-Disc best of compilation of the great band comes wonderfully packaged in gatefold cardboard sleeve which unfolds into 3 square pieces. It also contains a 16-page booklet that contains pictures of the band as well as the credits page. The tracks are also thoughtfully arranged so that all the harder, faster paced tracks are on the "Up" side (Disc One)and the slower paced ones are on the "Down" side (Disc Two). Most importantly though, the sound quality is very, very good due in no small part to the great remixing done by Brendan O'Brien on "Once" and "Alive". Let's hope they do a similar job on "Ten" and "Vs" and rerelease them in mini-lp sleeve replica designs too! I've always thought that the sound quality on these two and especially on "Ten" was not as good as it could be. Great track selections, great sound quality, great album design and packaging all make this the best (and currently the only) compilation album of Pearl Jam that's out there. Great for those of you who want to sample or learn more about the band but don't want to get all the albums. Recommended.

Very Evenflow
What Pearl Jam did, maybe even unwittingly, was to weld the thick sludgey minor-chord sound (and general angst) of grunge to arena size rock choruses and guitar power. In doing so, they managed to quickly outshine their nearest peers (Nirvana) commercially and ultimately become the vanguard for rock through the 90's. Along with Red Hot Chili Peppers and maybe Soundgarden, they shaped the sound of a decade and thrived to see their success sustained creatively."Rearviewmirror" reflects (har har) that 12 years between Ten and Binaural in solid fashion, even if does lean heavily on the first three albums. It also offers a dozen later track to show that, even while the band's spotlight had faded somewhat, albums like No Code were better even while the band purposely was making music that antagonized fans expecting more of "Jeremy." Treats like "Do The Evolution" and "Man Of The Hour" sound just as powerful as any of the pre-Vs. material. And for those who argue that Eddie Vedder is a big old sourpuss, they miss out on fun stuff like the tribute to old 45's "Spin The Black Circle" or the totally unironic cover of "Last Kiss" (that actually hit the top ten in 1999). Guitarist Stone Gossard rips some particularly innovative riffs through the proceedings here, and it's worth noting that Goassard (as well as the rest of the band) usually co-wrote the band's songs. On "Rearviewmirror," they are divided into two CD's, with an "Up" disc of rockers and the "Down" side of more pensive or acoustic material. It is the second disc where more of the interesting material lies for me. I've always personally felt "Better man" to be the best song Pearl Jam ever wrote, and the closer, "Yellow Ledbetter" is a damn good blues number with Mike McCready hitting a terrific facsimile of Jimi Hendrix. There is plenty of meat spread between the two discs, and for the casual radio fan of Pearl Jam, this is a great sampler at a fine price.

Great CD, Great Seller
I bought this at the height of the COVID shut down. I assumed it lost when it hadn't arrived after 6 weeks from Australia. The seller (rockinghorserecords brisbane) assured me it would eventually arrive and was very courteous and helpful through the whole process. They responded to every email even when I was less than happy and suspected I'd lost my money and CD. It showed up after 12 weeks of being delayed through no fault of the seller. As for the CD itself, it's a fantastic selection of some of Pearl Jam's best songs. It arrived in perfect condition after it's epic journey and I couldn't be more pleased.

Great 90's band
Wasn't buying too much music in the 90's. musta been hiding under a rock. I heard Pearl jam on the radio. the songs I heard I liked. I could see they were happening by all the kids with pearl jam t-shirts. finally got this album in 2011. this is a great album. Has a lot of their greats. The Problem with Greatest hits albums is they usually miss some great songs. And if you like the band and you are like me you start collecting the original albums to see what you're missing. If you havent any pearl jam, this is a great place to start. It will get you wanting more. this is a double cd with 33 hits

LOVE LOVE LOVE this album
As a teenager in the early 90's, Pearl Jam is OBVIOUSLY my favorite band of all time. This album is a great mix of some of their best songs......although I think every track from "Ten" should be on here, it definitely has a good mix of stuff. If you love PJ this is a great purchase!
