Connected and Streaming!
I was skeptical at first considering all the negative reviews and problems people were having with this adapter.Setup was flawless for me. You must READ the manual (both for the receiver AND the adapter). One important thing is to UPDATE the firmware on the receiver FIRST. I did so using an ethernet cable and it took 5 minutes! That's all. I used a CAT6 cable which sped things up nicely.I don't have an HDTV so I couldn't use the on-screen dialog boxes. I used the receiver display only. Things are even easier with the on-screen guide.I attached the adapter and used the automatic setup. You have an option for auto or manual. If your router has a button to "open up access" to devices for a short time, you can proceed with auto setup. The receiver and adapter instantly recognized and found my network and I was connected in seconds. Signal strength isn't great (25-50%) for me, but everything works fine. So, bottom line, read the manuals, update firmware, follow the directions and you are good to go! Streaming audio and also downloaded the ONKYO remote app on my android phone which allows me to control the internet radio options (Pandora, Slacker, etc...) volume, switch inputs, etc...This adapter is great and it's small enough that it isn't even noticeable on the receiver.

New purchase to work with Onkyo 809 also bought from Amazon
I have just odered the 809 (got it for $450.00, also a great price) that was on sale at a great price and I also ordered this item at $19.00 which I guess is a good price. I have not got it yet and when it arrives I will use to update my 809 if needed and to use it to stream radio off the internet. Reviews are all over the place on this item... sure hope it works for me so I can make my life a lot more simple. I will post any problems, but will appreciate any input on what will make this item work to its full potential. Thanks in advance for any help....FredNOTE: I just received this item (1/8/13) and it clearly states in instruction book: To be used on Onkyo xxx09 only. If folks are trying to use on other systems they sure may not work. I will install it tomorrow and if I encounter any problems I will make additional comments.....UPDate...1/9/2012... I just got finished setting my 809 and the UWF-1 Wireless adapter all set up. I have a $29.00 Walmart CISCO Modem which is about 25 feet from the 809 and I get 74%, which I am really satisified with after seeing other posts on here. I couldn't use the remote to set it up though. I did it off the front of the unit after several tries using the remote. Once I got it right,,, about 45 min it came right up and showed all the internet stations avail. I am very satisified so far, but haven't used it really yet. My set came with all the updates already installed so I didn't use it to update. After I get used to the UWF I will repost if I find any problems....1/16/12 This worked flawlessly since I installed it. Seems very steady and never a hiccup....

Issue with connecting with Onkyo Receiver
Note: This was used with TX-NR509.While the Onkyo is a great brand, supplemented with great sound, there is an issue when trying to access wi-fi. The wi-fi signal dropped randomly, and eventually lost the Access point completely. This is a known issue with Onkyo. Calling customer support, they ensured the firmware was up to date, and reset the receiver. Despite all this, the wi-fi dropped again. I consider myself a savvy tech user and know there are no router issues and there are also several wi-fi devices working just fine in the nearby proximity.A 2nd wi-fi dongle was ordered in case there was an issue with the lan adapter. Same issue persisted. I ended up replacing the receiver with a new one. Same issue, again! So, having received 2 receivers, with 2 wi-fi dongles, I was extremely disappointed. I would have the readers consider the TX-NR609 or another brand, as I have seen this in use at someone else's home theater system. This review will also be copy+pasted for the Onkyo wi-fi lan adapter.

Works great!!
Worth the price. My wireless router is upstairs in one corner of the loft. My receiver is downstairs in the living room. This little gem connects with the network with no issues. Gets reasonable signal strength to play internet radio without any disruption (what more can you ask for??). I have a 2.4 Ghz wireless G network, have not tried with N and 5Ghz. I am buying a new router next month, will update the review if I see issues. And what I like also is this adaper is so small, it blends into your receiver setup (both being black) and doesn't look odd at all. In fact, I have a 1.5 yrs toddler at home and despite the receiver being close to floor, she has not messed around with it ('cause it is not so easy for a toddler to pull it out). Overall great buy, even though its little expensive.Update:=======Just came across this item "POWERLINK PL-8188CUS MicroN". On 24 Jan it was selling for 7 bucks on mWave dotcom! Yep, unbelievable price for a wireless N adapter. It looks very similar to Onkyo adapter and has similar specs. Check it out before you buy Onkyo adapter.
