The BEST in auto combat since Mario Kart!!
Wow, what more can I say! This game is tha sizzle! It's polished, and plays great!I will say that Head On isn't Dark and Grim like TM: Black. It's acually more realistic looking, like it could actually happen. But it still maintains a matureedge. But there's not a lot of Modes, though. :( But they still get the job done! There's Story Mode. Learn your Character's motives in the Profiles and Endings. It's lengthy, but a wee bit repepitive and predictable. Each Stage also hidesMini Game Stages, cleverly hidden, and constructed.Challenge Mode; is basicly your Battle Mode, only you full reign over your customdream matches!Survival Mode is like Challenge, only it gets right down rto bussiness, pitting youagainst Random opponets, where you'll fight till ya drop! You can also Save your High Score and Story Progress, but Saving a game takes a long time! But it's worth the wait. The Options Menu covers the bear essenstials of the Game, the Control Config dosen't let you map the Buttons as want to, but the Default Control scheme stillworks fine. All these Modes also apply to TM: Lost, the DARK alternate game.------------I'll admit the Controls are a little akward. They take getting used to. But the are deceptively simple, even if you have press D-Pad Down to go in Reverse. But the Steering AND Jumping are the best in Auto Combat!! So easy to steer and jump! The Story Mode is nice, but repetive. you unlock most of the Cars and Maps this way, but Story Mode can get a little stale... but it's still a good time!!There's LOT'S of tricked out Rides to choose from. Each has unique attributes, and Specialties, and no 2 Vehicles seem to handle the same! No clones!!!!And the Maps are just as plentiful. And diverse. The Music and Sounds are loud and clear, but don't clash with each other, or drown out the gameplay. Music and Sound FX are equally impressive, and both are heard in perfect harmony; even when the action gets thick. The Soundtrack is a deeply varied assortment of Stage specific tunes, and fit their Maps like a glove. And the Sound FX are convincingly real too. All make for a trilling experience. The Graphics are nearly flawless, and every detail is polished to finest! And then there's Twisted Metal: Lost. And the other bonus content and easter eggs.-----------In short, if you love Car-Fu, GET THIS GAME!!!! I believe it would appeall toAuto Combat nuts, and Casual Gamers, even Mario Karters. And of course Twisted Metal die-hards!-------Just remember- TM: Head On isn't the Dark Heart that TM: Black was. It's more casually realistic, minus the disturbing qualities of TM: BlackIt does, however, include the altenate Twist Metal: Lost, which is basiclyTM: Black's 'lost' levels. There just as Dark though. Just to let you know.

It wasn't Twisted Metal Black but it was FUN!!!!
The graphics are different and so is the game play from Twisted Metal Black. That's the only game from the series that I had and I loved it so much, I wanted more so I tried this.Upon first seeing the graphics I kinda was like "oh great, an old crappy game" because it's poorer quality than the TM Black edition. So, I played and got use to it and started having tons of fun. Then I did the other part of the series-there are 3 parts to this game. The two major games are fun and you get into it and then you get into the other one that's an extra part of the game and you find out as you're running around as Sweettooth through this maze, that 6 members of the team were killed in an airplane crash and they never got to finish the sequel to Twisted Metal Black and then I understood why there was no sequel to Twisted Metal Black. It totally bummed me out but made me appreciate the game that much more. It was like a tribute to the 6 members who died. Really sad but really cool that they did that for them. So, after reading about that, I really enjoyed the game and imagined what they might have created if they had lived. RIP :(

Great family fun!
I ordered this for my husband and I. We used to play it all the time together back in our college days and when our 4 year old discovered video games we dusted off our PS2! We have had many late nights going head to head again and now our 4 year old wants in on the mania! He's very into car crushing, explosions, ets like most 4 year old boys and this is actually a fun game for him to drive around and get to blow things up! He obviously doesn't get the whole gist of the game but enjoys driving, shooting and beating mom every few games! No blood and guts so it's perfect for kids or adults who just want some good action!

Purchased for a gift..
I bought this game for my brother, who likes the series. I think myself that the game is rather repetitive, but for people who like that type of game it's a good game. You basically ride around in your choice of vehicle, and try to destroy the other vehicles and try not to be destroyed. He was happy with the game and liked it.

A must-own for Twisted Metal fans
One of the Playstation's all time flagship franchises, Twisted Metal: Head On, Extra Twisted Edition is a must own for fans of the long running, car combat series. As you can tell by the title, the game is a spot-on port of the PSP title Twisted Metal: Head On, which gets an upgrade in the graphics and control department for the PS2. With the budget price tag, that in itself may have been enough, but thankfully Sony has decided to pack in a boat load of extras that will make any longtime Twisted Metal fan cry with joy. Along for the ride is also Twisted Metal: The Lost Levels, which contains three areas from the never released sequel to the classic Twisted Metal: Black, a franchise retrospective documentary featuring interviews with the guys behind the series (including Dave Jaffe), an abandoned concept entitled Sweet Tour, in which you play as Sweet Tooth on foot and you run around to gather tidbits and trivia about the series (not really all that much to it, but a somewhat cool feature), and an option to download music from the series as well. With the Twisted Metal: Head On game, the lost levels, and the assortment of extras; Twisted Metal: Head On, Extra Twisted Edition is an absolute must own for fans of the series new and old, and with the budget price tag, this is one deal that can't be beat.
