It's 3 phase.
This is a beautiful saw. As spec'd, it requires 3 phase power. Go find the right model number if you don't have 3 phase power and are buying new.If you end up with a 3 phase saw and need to make it run on single phase power, swapping out the motor to a single phase 5hp motor will cost you a bit over $500 in parts, but only takes 1-2 hours. Less if you have a helper, but can be done solo no problem. Sawstop support will help you with this. It's not a big deal.

Overall a great saw
Pros: Very heavy machine and has the awesome safety feature. Delivery went smoothly and the machine looks very nice in my shop. Plenty of power for any job.Cons: Saw was out of alignment by more then 7 thou to the miter slots. Saw vibrates while running and has a resonant vibration that rattles the machine during coast down. Table legs are poorly designed and holes do not line up well. I was shorted one washer and provided with two extra bolts. The wings were warped - distorion likely caused by grinding process. I was able to tighten the forward bolts and then force the wings to lay relatively flat by tightening the middle bolt followed by the end bolt and applying pressure.Overall it is about what i expected. Very nice machine overall but it is fairly obvious that it is made in asia with lacking quality control in some areas.

I really like this saw
I really like this saw. It is by far the nicest table saw I've ever had. The finger-saving feature is the best part about it. The fence is smooth and accurate. It costs more than other new saws, but with all its features it definitely offers the best value! I would do it again.

Terrible Customer Service From CPO and SawStop
I spent months researching the best and safest table saw. The consensus was that for quality and safety, SawStop was the way to go. I am a physician, and a colleague persuaded me that the safety features were well worth the possible catastrophic effect on my career should I have a table saw injury. He also strongly advised that I purchase a 5 hp model. Thus, I intended to purchase SawStop's top of the line industrial single phase saw that does not require three phase power. After building my saw on the SawStop website, I moved laterally on the Internet to their online vendors. I selected a 5 hp saw from CPO with a competitive price, and I purchased it. I assumed (wrongly) that I was being directed to a menu of saws that were 5 hp and single phase. This was incorrect. I received a three phase saw, only discovering this when informed by my electrician that the saw was three phase. When I called CPO to discuss this, their phone tree directed me back to the manufacturer, SawStop. This seemed reasonable. Indeed, the saw was shipped directly from SawStop in Oregon. SawStop refused to work with me. Over the course of two calls, they could only offer to send me a new motor and appropriate compatible electrical hookups and pulley. Their was no provision to swap it out for a single phase saw. I would have gladly absorbed the shipping and any difference in cost between components. I received a particularly unsatisfactory response that "electronics" cannot be returned (even when new and unused) and re-used. This is nonsense given the broad spectrum of equipment that manufacturers and retailers commonly accept as returns. My very experienced electrician was appalled that: 1. There was no confirmatory step in the ordering process to confirm that I did not want a three phase saw, and 2. There was no flexibility in correcting this misunderstanding. This has cost me over $1,000 including shipping and labor switching out the motor. SawStop recommended that I try to sell the new and unused three phase motor on EBay.

Amazing.
2nd one I have purchased. Worth the extra dollars for the safety but also for the quality. Watch the manufacturers videos. Amazing.

Unreliable
The machine works well and does what it is designed to do but it will cut you badly if your hand suddenly hits the blade but it stops and a bad cut is better and much cheeper than an amputation. My chief complaint is with the reliability. I have had the switch/ motherboard die twice leaving my shop shut down for a week each time. I am currently waiting for another. The service department will happily send you another switch to the tune of $185 when you make your living with a piece of equipment, reliability is important, a fact that seems to have escaped the sawstop people
