Works great
The FINIS Aqua Pulse Heart Rate monitor is easy to use and works great. It has really helped me to add another element to my swim workouts. I did have an issue with the battery in the first one I ordered. The people at FINIS were quick to respond and sent me a new one immediately which I received within 2 business days of contacting them.

Swimming heart rate monitor
I signed up for health club subscription, and started working out by swimming, so as to not hurt myself. My immediate goal was to get my heart rate up to 70% for my age, and sustain it for the duration of the workout. I have been using the Finis Aqua Pulse for about a month now. Other reviews reported problems with the unit reporting incorrect heart rates, and that the unit would report false rates above and below. My unit at first would hunt at least 10 to 20 beats above and below when I first started using it. Then it settled down an would be with in a couple of beats compared to our medical grade blood pressure/pulse rate monitor. Even when it settles in, the unit would still hunt above and below my avarage heart rate.In addition, the manual stated that the unit had a battery life of 8 hours +. Mine would only go for about 2 1/2 hours. When I called customer service. they told me that the 8 hour battery live is only if you have the unit outputting heart rate every 5 minutes. I have mine set to every 20 seconds. The unit charges via a USB cable that comes with the unit. I asked customer service if they were comming out with a firmware upgrade to correct the hunting issue. They said no. They also said that they had no plans in the works for a newer better unit. With all the FINIS Aqua issues, I still find this heart rate monitor useful. I just average the reports in my head.

bad investment
I've had to give up running, thanks to bad knees, and now swim for cardiovascular fitness. I like to keep my heart rate in the 140 range -- used a Garmin Forerunner 305 while running, Wanted a monitor for swimming so I don't have to stop periodically to count pulse. The Garmin, with a chest strap, doesn't work in the water. The description of the AquaPulse made it sound like the PERFECT device for my needs, designed to monitor heart rate while swimming!. Unfortunately I can't find a single "pro" to describe the device. The cons: the push-button controls are tiny and nearly impossible to operate (simple push buttons). It is designed to mount on the strap of your goggles or mask -- it is big, heavy and clumsy and aggravating. It has a speaker which announces your heart rate at intervals you select -- supposedly transmitting the sound through bones. It is inaudible. It uses a clip (a modification of a pulse oximeter sensor) on the ear lobule to sense the pulse rate; it is uncomfortable, and simply doesn't work -- when I interrogate it for current HR, it says "sensing". The first time I hooked it up, it reported a heart rate of 101 -- but my carotid pulse was actually 65. Turned it off, then back on to see if it would reset -- and all I get now is "sensing". My opinion: this is a product for which there is a need, but was not researched and tested before going to market. I'm going to see if Amazon will refund. If not, it seems I am stuck with an expensive electronic miscarriage.

Not Accurate and only for special conditions
ok i bought this cause1) i am a fitness fanatic (swimming and other ..)2) i loved the idea of monitoring my heart rate while swimming, (by monitoring i mean knowing while I swim at what heart rate I am at)the product:basically you place this on ur goggles and stick the clip on ur ear lobe and it will monitor your heart rate and announce it to u in intervals from 10 sec min to i think a min not sure, you might think it would be uncomfortable but i didnt mind it at alli was excited bout it as I love to train with heart rate zones, but had to compare it to another heart rate monitor that works under water the FT1its easy to work, just charge in a USB and away we go, it states it works for 8 hours on a full charge never tested it to be sureok here is what i foundbasically like many said, its alot of times way off the accurate heart rate ,the watch would read 144 and it would announce 90!!secondlyit is a monitoring heart rate, meaning it wont save your session, giving you the avrg and highest heart rate which $20 watches doalso if you plan on hearing it well while doing hard rounds, be ready to put on a snorkel, I tend to get out for breath with the freestyle every forth stroke, and with it on max volume it wouldnt make me hear it well..!!Pros :ummmmm really thinking hard here to find something buti would say the idea is a pro, but executed in a awful waycons:not accurate at alldoes not save session not even one!! (for a 100+$ watch, that seems to be a joke)the whole idea is to hear my heart rate while swimming which it fails to deliverway too expensive, you can get a nice FT1 polar watch which will be at 40$ and will read heart rate under water save your last session and has a beep alarm for your range, yeah might be a bit low sound under the water, but its a 40$ watch..!!and last and not least, i have never seen a water proof gadget that doesnt state its MAX depth usage!!! yes, it doesnt has that written any where !! ...any way my last verdictDo not buy this, total waste of money, yes I know you are thinking (maybe he is wrong, and its a way cool gadget or idea, thats what i though, but I assure you... no) maybe wait for a sequel that would have huuuge enhancements but if FINIS depend on this , i assure it will be taken off production soon

worth the buy
Good product, a little hard to hear at times espeacialy when doing butterfy it gets lost it the water sound, you will also have to get used to the translation which can be a little decieving but when you do its well worth the buy, very accurate however you just need to wait till it calbrates itself and it will send acurate readings, you can do this by just starting your swim or you can turn it off and on before you start your swim and this seems to also re-calibrate itself.so far so good, very happy with it

Works as advertised
I read all of the excellent reviews before I purchased - I knew what I was getting in to. I used it at the 20 second notification interval and it worked perfectly. Easy to hear. I have not been swimming for a while, and I wanted to make sure I kept in my zone- and this was perfect.

Not loud enough
Nice idea but you can't actually hear it while you are swimming, simply not loud enough.

Top. :)Qualität - könnte also besser sein.

Ottimo prodotto, assolutamente funzionale all'ambiente acquatico e di facile utilizzo.

Cool swimming gadget
I've been waiting a long time for something like this to come along. Easy to use, no looking at watches or adjusting straps.the only negative thing I have to say is that sometimes it's hard to tell if he's saying 13 or 30, 14 or 40 etc.Would definitely recommend though. Well done finis, cool gadget!
