I read this to my 2nd graders the last day of school. Try not to cry!!! It’s so sweet.

Great Tool for Teaching Idioms!
While the sing-songiness of the "poem" gets redundant quickly (even more quickly after you've read the prequel "My Momma Likes to Say"), the idioms this author has chosen are classic, and the illustrations really help children visualize the difference between literal and figurative language. This book focuses more on idioms that teachers would use, which makes it a hilarious addition to a classroom (gives teachers a little opportunity to laugh at themselves!) Each idiom includes an explanation/derivation, which is immensely useful! I would recommend this book for any teacher that teaches idioms or figurative language-- the students really enjoy it, and it makes for great independent working centers!

Funny read aloud
Cute story explaining the many things teachers say but our students may not know what they mean. My students found it really funny!

Love this book!
I teach 4th and 5th grade and this is the best idiom book I have found. The kids love it, great illustrations too.
