Hi, i know this is an italian brand. but is this particular product made in italy please?

It does says made in Italy on the box it came with. I don't know of Lagostina being produced anywhere else, apart from Italy. This is the best pressure cooker I made and I've had a couple of other brands before. Lagostina is the best for me. But the lid needs get used to because it's a little different to other brands. But for me. that's why its good because the function of the lid is unique for pressure cooking.

Please can I fry food, like onion or meat, in the pressure cooker before adding water for cooking in pressure mode?

Yes. I usually use a little oil in the pot, and fry the ingredients ie stew meat and vegetables then add a little water before I put lid on for pressure cook. When making stews use very little water and cook in very low heat. This pressure cooker reduces cooking time by a half, at least. So saves a lot of gas and cooking time. This is THE BEST pressure cooker for making all kinds of soups because it's so quick and easy.
