Rescue! Carpenter Bee TrapStik – Also Works on Wasps, Mud Daubers

Best Bee trap I have ever used!

Did not catch ONE Carpentar Bee, only a few small flies & a spider. This was placed right where the bees are the most active too. I have a ton flying all over my wood porch, under and over it. I placed this where the most action with these bees is. They would just hover around the trap, but never one caught in the trap. It has been a waste of almost $13.00 which doesn't make me happy. I tried hanging both horizontal and vertical and it did not matter...those buggers where not taking the bait so to speak. PLUS this was a pain to put together in the first place, it doesn't come together so handle easy when taking from the package if you still want to waste your money on it. Probably the worse product I have purchased thru Amazon.

I've had this trap hanging up for about a month. It has caught a ton of bald faced hornets that harass me every time I walk out the door. The cage around it keeps birds from getting stuck, and keeps it from getting stuck to the house when it gets windy. It's unfortunate that it caught a few butterflies, since they're harmless and they take up a lot of space on the trap. I'm planning on turning the trap around so the back side can catch more of these mean stinging beasts. I wish I would have gotten one earlier in the summer.

TRAP IS EFFECTIVE: At first I placed the trap directly over the nest, but the bees would fly away from the nest toward flowering plants on an opposite fence. Caught zero for the first two days. I then moved the trap to where they were flying, and over a few days it caught the entire population. The trap is extremely sticky and a little difficult to handle when mounting, so maybe wear disposable gloves. The bird guard makes sense, I can see how it would be merciless, but I think it can be partially removed to improve insect-catching while minimizing bird strikes. I removed sections so it was wide open on a downward-facing section of the trap as I hung it on a fence and didn't have any unfortunate bird issues.

I can only express it's a tad pricy. Not because of the price but because how many you will need because how many it catches in a few days. My backyard is finally enjoyable.

Hasn't worked yet for Active Carpenter Bees around my house.

The trap was placed in an area with lots of Carpenter Bee traffic and has not caught any. Do not recommend as it is not effective.
