You need this for germinating your seeds and getting your plants off to a great start!
This is a superior product, I could smell the richness of the soil before I even opened the bag. The mix is, like others say, a bit hydrophobic, meaning it takes some time to begin absorbing. . I hastened this process by using hot tap water. First dribble some water on top of the seed tray to soak the top surface. Then, with a measured 6 cups of hot water, lift a corner of the tray and gently pour the entire contents in. Make sure the tray is level, if not, some parts will stay dry. Wait 30 minutes, then check under the pots to make sure all the water has been absorbed. Check the soil in either end to be sure the soil is well moistened. Then you may commence planting your seeds. Additional hints: I added a tablespoon of Alaska Fish Fertilizer 5-1-1 to the 6 cups of water. This is available at Walmart, and is worth every dime you pay for it. Just a little goes a long way, that large bottle will last you a long time, be sure you read ALL the directions first. A heat mat and grow lights will increase your chances of seed germination by 80%. I'm looking forward to a bumper crop of hot peppers this year!

Excellent potting soil!
Replanted three plants using this potting soil, one of which a Hibiscus shipped from FL which died! Two are still going strong and I never had a green thumb. One is a replanted Poinsettia and the other is a Barrel Cactus!

Works just fine.
I mixed with 70% this, 20% coco coir, and 10% earthworm castings for a mighty mix that started a ton of my veggies this year.

All seeds yielded plenty when started in this
I planted my first veggie garden this year and started all my seeds in this. They all grew healthy and produced a lot of veggies. I also used it to start some flower seeds that have produced an abundance of flowers. I’m in FL.

Plants seemed to like it
I used Miracle-Gro's seed starting mix and was pleasantly surprised by how well it worked. It had a fibrous, mulch-like texture with some white, fuzzy-looking bits that almost resembled moldy wood. Whether that was natural decomposition or something else, I understand that a living medium can actually be a good sign. Either way, my pepper seedlings thrived in it with just water and sunlight—no extra fertilizers needed. The only thing that didn’t take off as well was the garden mix seeds, but everything else is growing strong. Definitely recommend it for starting seeds. It did have some small pieces of twigs. Probably dodged the mulching process somehow.
