PolycomSoundstation 2 EX Mic Pods 2200-16155-001

If you have an EXPANDABLE Polycom, such as the Polycom SoundStation2 Expandable Conference Phone (2200-16200-001), then these are the extra 2 mics that go to the far ends of a long table. Make sure you verify you have the Expandable Polycom before you order these. Make sure you have a Polycom before you order these, for that matter -- these are not generic microphones for tape recorders or such.They work great. I can walk around our long conference room table and the person on the other end can't tell I'm moving.During one call, someone set a paper on top of one of these mics. That made the sound go all funny to the person on the other end, who said so. When she moved the paper off of the mic, the sound was great again. So don't put things on top of these mics.The mute button on these mics mutes ALL the mics. The green indicator light turns red on the Polycom and the other mic, indicating that the Polycom is muted. Anyone can mute and unmute pushing the mute on either mic or the center triangle unit.

These items were exactly what I needed for a small group of people, they extended 6' looked great, easy to set up. Sounded great. I had no problems. Make sure they are compatible with your POLYCOM system before you purchase. Will not work with all systems.

We have a very large conference room. This system enhanced our Polycom spaceship-looking-conference-room-phone and expanded it greatly considering it was just a single module before. The noise-cancelling is great and the listener can't really discern where you are in the room because it transmits so well.The only problem I had is that the cables for the pods were a bit on the short side. I'm sure I could rig or buy extensions, but I was really disappointed with the coverage you get coming straight out of the box.The ability to add more than just the two would also be nice, but you can't get everything you want, right? Right?

The sound2 extension conference phone does not work in my conference room. It comes with an old-type phone cable and my room my has ethernet receptical. Because my meeting was rescheduled, I am outside of the return window for Amazon. And out $80 for these extension speakers and nearly $300 for the phone itself. I called Poly and they said there is nothing they can do.

I wish someone made it easier to buy longer RJ-9 cables to extend the microphones further...In a quiet room, the speaker on this device can be heard clearly 30 feet away. but in my meeting spaces, I need a microphone that would pick up the voice of the person talking at a podium from up to 30 feet away... the fix was to use a simple telephone line coupler and I ordered some RJ-9 cables to extend the range of the expansion microphones! there has been zero degradation of audio from this modification....

I was hesitant on purchasing this item because I needed an extension mic for a large conference table. I could not find the length spec for this extension (how can you not put the length spec on an extension product...). I finally called Polycom and the support person told me it would be 9 feet. WRONG!! That would have worked perfectly but the actual length of the cable, measured from the end of the RJ-11 connector to the mic itself, was only 7 feet (83" to be more precise). Now I have to go and make an extension cable for this extension cable. Polycom does not have anything longer according to their knowledgeable support staff. ;|

The part number listed is no longer supported...but there is no mention that a replacement part number was going to be sent instead. I was looking for the discontinued part, but received the replacement part (which doesn't work for me).

These mic pods are very helpful. They make a great addition to the conference phone, especially when you want to make sure that everyone is heard clearly.
