Best solution for stuck lids that we've found so far. Bought this as a replacement for a 10 year old (?) version that finally died. We've tried tapping lids (denting with knife handle), gripping with rubber gloves, silicone gloves, rubber discs, running hot water over the lid, but this is the most successful method. It IS a device that has eccentricities however. Sometimes when you press the button to start, it won't actually begin unless you hold the button for about 10 seconds. You do have to hold the device on the lid until it has tightened enough not to fall off, then I just hold the jar so it doesn't jump or fall over when the lid pops (the device makes it a little top heavy). This gadget is great for my mom's arthritis and saves my wrist. Takes a bit of space to store, but it's nice to have when you have a stuck lid.

It is the answer to my recent panic question, "What will I do when I cannot open a jar, and no one is around to help, and I need to get dinner ready right away?" This jar opener functions well although it seems a bit slow. It has opened any size jar I have used it on so far, from quart size down to a small jar of pimentos. ROBOTWIST stores in the open position. To open a jar, I simply have to set it on the lid of a jar, press the ON spot on the handle, and let it do what it is supposed to do. After the jar clicks open, the ROBOTWIST immediately reverses direction, spreads the claws apart, and automatically stops. It just has to be picked straight up off the jar. The opener seems well made with no external defects. The plastic and rubber/silicone of which it is made appears to be durable.

Noisy but opens jars easily!

I love this hat opener so much! It's very strong and it's made well! My sister got a jar of artichoke hearts and she couldn't get the jar opened, so I ordered her one of these openers. She had a bit of trouble, the machine slipped sideways and got stuck sideways in the jar top. Then she was afraid to try it again, so she brought her jar and her owner to my house, so I could help her. I got it open with the opener the first time! I had to put the jar between my legs while I sat on my recliner, I centered the lid and pushed the jar opener button, it had to work really hard but then I heard a loud pop and it was open! I did have to push down on the top of the opener to keep it from slipping sideways. It was a jar of artichokes from Sam's Club. I've never had a jar that hard to open! I even tried putting a butter knife under the lid to let the pressure escape, but that didn't work, I couldn't get it to release! Thank God for this well made jar opener!

This gadget is an absolute miracle for me. I have suffered with getting jars open for YEARS! Jelly jars, pimento jars, pickle jars, mustard and mayo jars...... the list just goes on. I am convinced through the years they have sought out the MOST impossible- to--open lids that they can find, and then mechanically sucked them so tightly shut that it almost takes a vice and an ax to open them. It has made my life miserable! Then I saw this can opener. At first I kind of laughed, but then I read the positive reviews and thought,what the heck, I'll give it a try. So I bought one. On my very first try, I could NOT believe how fast it worked and what a wonderful job it did of getting that lid off. I almost screamed with joy. (I have actually hurt my wrist several times trying to open jars so this was a BIG deal for me!) I ran and got my husband and showed him how this thing worked, and I opened several more jars in amazement. Well, that was months ago- and I have to tell you I am still in love with this thing! I use it several times a week, and every time I do, I tell it I LOVE IT before I put it in the drawer! I don't ever want to be without this magical little device. I bought 2 more as backups just in case my original dies at some point. For those that say they don't like it- I can only imagine that they are not using it correctly, because this thing is a beast! PURE LOVE HERE!!!!

I had high hopes for this jar opener, especially for my elderly mother-in-law, but it just didn’t perform as expected. It’s finicky and inconsistent...sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. It’s not as user-friendly as advertised, and definitely not ideal for someone with limited strength or dexterity. For the price, I expected something more reliable and helpful. Unfortunately, it’s just not worth the money.

For most hours it works fine but I buy big jars of pickles and it doesn't work on it. But other than that I like

I purchased the jar opener for my grandmother who has severe arthritis and cannot use her hands much at all anymore and I was so surprised at how easy it was to use. She was so excited to show me how she can now independently open jars and it was fun to watch which was a bonus. She showed her friends and they also ordered one for themselves. I even borrowed it when I had carpal tunnel surgery and it was a life saver. Highly recommend this product especially if people have issues with their hands.
