The media could not be loaded. WORHT IT! Wasn’t sure about this set, read some bad reviews but tried it anyway. As a WASH over the top of a paint these are gorgeous! Really beautiful. Fairly translucent, on their own you won’t get good results (except the coppers and gold tones) and there is not a lot in each pan, so if you are looking to use as an opaque paint, you should look for something else. HOWEVER....use them over them over the top of your work and they are stunning! I will buy another set just to have on hand as the price is so worth it.

These watercolors definitely leave a beautiful sheen/shimmer to your watercolor piantings. I like to use them just as highlights. They dry nicely, with a lot of shine to them. Perfect, just what I was hoping for! A little will go a long way. Especially if you use like me, just for highlighting certain parts of the paintings. I have not done a whole painting using only these colors, I think that would be TOO much.These little color bricks/blocks/whatever you call them, are thin, there is probably not as much in each well as you might imagine. But like I said, a little goes a long way! Especially after it dries, you will see that what you thought was NOT nearly enough paint, will certainly dry to a spectacular shimmery shine that you wanted.One thing to note is that although there was a slot for it at the front of the case when you open it, there is NOT a brush that comes with this set. You'll have to use your own brush. I make sure to use a small thin tipped one, and only wet the brick a little bit. Clean the brush between each color! These colors are just too darn pretty to get them all messed and mixed up with other colors. Take care of them, and this beautiful set of colors will last you for quite a long time. I gave it 5 stars-- the price was just amazing.

The pearl finish is subtle on most colors, but is pretty on those you can see it on. The blues and greens are most noticeable. I wish they were a little more pigmented, but for the price, it’s fine. The colors clean out of the brush beautifully.The only con is the plastic case. Amazon shipped this in a normal paper envelope instead of bubble wrap, so the plastic case is broken and multiple colors had fallen out of their spaces by the time it arrived. Please note in the pictures, this does not come with a brush.

I've just returned to water color painting, after quite an absence. Started with a very small metallic set, but wanted way more colors, so made this purchase. When my 8 y.o. granddaughter saw this, she went bananas, as the saying goes. I've chosen to paint with these, as though creating a stained glass window. For example: Using a black permanent Sharpie of the chosen width, I line-draw a butterfly, allowing it to thoroughly dry. (Made 2 of these drawings, by finding a page in a coloring book my granddaughter chose.) Then using 2 pointed brushes, one small and one nearly medium, wet the desired paint palette with a bit of water, adding more, but not too much. I found that dousing the paint palette resulted in a fluid, with little pigment, whereas I prefer not to paint in really light pastels, when creating a butterfly. In any case, this first layer can be added to with the same color, or an overlay of another over part of it, which I found most effective and beautiful in butterfly wings. This number of colors available is such a great selection, after having worked with my Japanese set for a while. Though it was awesome, I yearned for more colors and this set certainly delivered. We made awesome butterflies!

I have been an artist for years but I only came to watercolor in the last year. Metallic paints and inks make me happy so I had to order this set because it has so many colors of metallic/pearlescent paint. I have discovered that the best way to use this paint is to use it in conjunction with traditional watercolors. These do not blend very well. But if you use them as a top layer on the regular watercolor the effect is beautiful. These pans do not have much paint in each pan, but the good news is it does not take much paint to get a beautiful effect, so this palette will last you longer than you think it will. Be sure to clean your brush each time you go to a different color so that you do not contaminate the paint pan! For the price this paint is excellent! I will buy it again when i use all mine up!
