Beautiful Grain Enhancement – True Natural Finish for Solid Wood Projects
I used this on custom-built log end tables and cutting tables made from oak, Kentucky coffee tree, and cherry. I was looking for a true 100% pure tung oil without added chemicals, and this delivered exactly that. I applied two coats with a foam brush, which allowed the oil to penetrate evenly into all the wood. It slightly darkened the wood, but in a way that enhanced the natural character and brought the grain beautifully to life — especially in the oak and cherry. The finish is low-sheen and hand-rubbed, never glossy or plastic-looking. Because this is pure tung oil, it’s slow-drying, which is normal. I didn’t time the full cure, but it behaved exactly as true tung oil should — natural, buildable, and durable. On cutting surfaces, it feels smooth and well-protected while remaining food-safe. No strong chemical odor during application, and wiping off excess with a clean cloth made the process easy. I’m very pleased with the final result. If you want a natural, non-synthetic finish that highlights wood’s true character, this is an excellent choice and value for the price.

Walrus makes great products
I like Tung oil on furniture that I build. It brings out the warm depth of natural wood like this cherry coffee/puzzle table that I'm building. Easy to use. I trust Walrus 100% Tung Oil. Just be aware that if you haven't used 100% tung oil as a finish before, it takes a long time in comparison to other finishes to apply. I prefer thin coats and to let them polymerize/cure for several days between applications. I also like to cure the coats outside on dry, sunny days. This oil will not yellow with age. If applied and cured properly, provides great protection with low lustre for a long time, and can be touched up with more tung oil when you want. I really like it for heirloom furniture pieces that I make and can be used on pieces that reside indoors or outside.

Good stuff but spendy
I love me some Tung Oil. I use it to condition and restore wooden tool handles. I use it on My wood handled hammers, garden rakes and shovels and my wheelbarrow handles. I sand with 200 then 400 grit. Apply oil, let cure wipe any access and apply a second and often a third coat. It makes for a smooth, hard, weatherproof finish and feels good in your hand. The hammer in the picture was sanded to raw wood, and two coats of oil applied over non-stained wood and it gave a 50 year hammer a great look and years more of use. Some reviewers comment they were confused about the size as the bottle bears the same shape as common gallon bottles , but the bottle in the ad picture is clearly labeled 32 fluid ounces and it is clearly described as 32 ounces in the description. Do your due diligence. The stuff is just expensive and may make you think you are getting a gallon. This is a quality product. I will buy more when I need more. Boiled linseed oil is cheaper and I use that for indoor projects where weather proofing is not an issue, BUT for outdoor projects , you want Tung oil and this brand seem like quality to me.

Waterproofing
Best waterproofing option I know of. For some reason I thought this was a gallon and when it came being so undersized was a shock. Works great.

Great product delivered great result.
Great quality tung oil. My teak outdoor rockers look awesome. No smell and works great at a very good price point. Pictures of before, prepped, and finished with tung oil. So far, very water repellent.

First use looks good
I have not compared this tongue oil to other tongue oil, but I did look up quite a few videos and this walrus tongue oil gets good review. I used it on three cutting boards and cut it with milk paint orange peel oil, about 50/50. This allowed the tongue oil to penetrate deeper and drive faster. However, I thought it was probably too much of the orange peel oil, so I tried it without the orange peel oil on another cutting board and it definitely took longer to absorb. I think maybe the right ratio would be 75% to the 25% orange peel oil I like to finish it’s nice and smooth. It looks good and I’ll be putting a few more coats on. Not sure how it’s gonna hold out, but it was easy to work with and looks good.

Beautiful finish
This oil is a dream for refinishing wood. It’s food safe and leave the wood with a very rich and perfect to touch finish. It is easy to apply does not have an offensive smell, although it does take a great deal of time to dry and cure, but worth the wait. Because it is safe and a beautiful and strong finish it checks all of my boxes for functionality.

Treating Wood

I was looking for some furniture wax to maintain counters and other old wood around the house then I came across this. I like that it's natural substance with nothing added. I applied it on a counter that hasn't been maintained in over 6 years. It brushed on much easier than wax. I just used a clean rag to remove the excess 24 hours later. It creates a decent layer of protection. I wouldn't say it waterproof, but it does keep moisture out long enough for the counter to be cleaned and it has improved the appearance of the wood. I reckon it does what I needed pretty well

Applied an undilluted thick layer, followed by light sanding and 3 more thin layers. Let cure two weeks. 6 Months later countertop still looks great. Holds up to water perfectly. This product is very thick compared to brands which blend tung oil product with solvents. I like the 100% pure.

I make a ton of cutting boards, and have been using all sorts of mineral oil combos, but walrus tung oil is the only thing I will be using going forward, goes in quick, smells good, boards stay water resistant for Months
