Small & Easy to use Voice Recorder
This Voice Recorder has been quite convenient for me to monitor my snoring. It is small and easy to use, and I appreciate the quality of the recordings. The additional features, such as of storing files, has been very helpful. It is easy to read the screens & navigate through the menu options. I was surprised how affordable is.

Great Little Recorder
I charged the recorder the day I got it and have not charged it since. I use it to record a meeting that usually lasts an hour and a half. I have recorded three meetings and it still shows full battery. The meeting is in a large room the size of half a gymnasium (the folding door is closed) with terrible acoustics. We use a PA system but not everyone uses a microphone. The recorder still picks up all the people speaking. I am the group Secretary and I can listen to the recording and produce accurate meeting minutes. The recorder is easy to use and I can reverse the playback in case I miss something and hear it again. I use a headset to listed to the recording. I’m very happy with the recorder and would recommend it to a friend. I used cassette recorders in college 30 years ago and this is much better. I have not recorded any music on it so I don’t know how it would sound. I record the meetings using the WAV format.

50% of the Time, it works Every time! (Read the review)
First off let me say, this recorder works 100% of the time, The title is misleading. I bought two of these and the second isn't working as well as the first. Firstly a review of my experience with the performance of the first recorder so far. I bought these to use as an extra audio source while filming Weddings and they have already saved me (the recorder hooked up to the main audio from the DJ failed, and luckily I had these rolling) Pros: The audio quality is incredible, the different modes (long range, outdoor, normal & meeting are tuned well to capture audio properly) The battery life is PHENOMENAL, I recorded audio over 3 days (about 7 hours of audio) and still had about 50% left. The build quality is solid, it's an all-metal piece and feels really nice (a little heavy, but I'd rather have something heavy that won't break in a pocket). Cons: There isn't an option to change the recording volume other than changing the scene, the recording switch can get slid down accidentally which will end the recording. Overall, despite some small oversights, it's a GREAT little recorder. *THE IMPORTANT PART* Like I said I ordered two of them, the first was super impressive but the second left me wanting. Firstly in the attached image you can see that despite having the exact same settings across all menus, the second (in purple) records MUCH louder, so much so that my voice from arms length away clips and distorts. Secondly the buttons don't always respond when pressed and Finally, it's completely frozen on me twice since purchasing (luckily not while recording at the wedding) The only reason why this still got 4 stars is how blown away I am at the performance of the first recorder, and the fact that when recording in WAV format, you can still recover that audio from being completely blown out, to just not being as clean as it should be. I'm definitely going to attempt to have the second one replaced in hopes of having a matching pair, I will easily and repetitively tell every videographer I know about these, providing I can guarantee consistency in the product.

I'm happy with my purchase
The item is nice and robust. It has a good weight to it and feels like it is quality made. I have not found anything yet of any sort that would make me think that it is dysfunctional at all. It appears to work well, It is a good size, not too big nor small. I used to have a Olympus brand of recorder before, many years ago. I never owned another one. That one I let the replaceable batteries run down and for some reason it took a crap because of that apparently. It was not cheap either. I paid well over $50 for it. But that is all that I can compare this to and I have to say that I like how this looks and feels. All I can do is list the things I like about it and then some things I wasn't all that crazy about. First my positive observations. Pros: 1. Nice weight. Doesn't feel cheap. Most is probably the battery weight I'm guessing. 2. Quality feeling metal enclosure. 3. Positive feeling clicks from the buttons and switches. 4. Decent clarity of the recordings. (Understand, this is for recording voice notes, not concerts) 5. Color and professional look. 6. Lanyard hole in the case body. 7. Multiple recording format options. 8. Readable display although some fonts are pretty compacted. Now here are some things I did not really get all excited about. But not deal-breakers for me anyway, not at this price point. 1. The backlight. You can't turn it off. Here's the problem with that. You will be recording all button presses and switch clicks. When it times out and the display is off you have to press a button "click" to light up the display and then press a button "click" to pause it. These click sounds can be rather loud on playback when listening closely to a voice recorded at a distance. 2. The length of time before recording starts. Unless you are anticipating the recording of something it will probably take you a good 10 seconds before recording starts. Reaction time, then a 3 second boot time, then a somewhat 5 second wait for it to initialize the record function and start recording. 3. Does not automatically save the recording. A majority of recordings are not accidental but if you don't slide the record switch down before shutting down it will not save it. The manual is not all that intuitive and some terminology is assumed unless you test it. The sleeper function is one example. I thought it was to record for a certain length of time and stop. All it is for is an auto-off function if not used for any length of time. I also couldn't figure also why there would be a lanyard connection point in the casing but no lanyard was included. Bottom line is that I am fine with this unit and without comparing it to others it is okay in my opinion. All in all it is a usable recorder for $40 and completely functional for the purpose it is intended for.

Works pretty well, but beware the turn-on time!
I bought this recorder to replace a Sony unit I'd used for years. The Sony had proprietary software to extract sound files, which no longer works with the Windows operating system. This unit will record directly to *.wav or *.MP3 format. Which is great. The sound quality is excellent. There are even some "modes" that adjust the input sensitivity for various recording situations (e.g., conference call, dictation, etc.). It is also simple to use. The one issue I ran into is when you want to begin recording. It is NOT instant. You may have to wait several seconds after turning on the device for recording to start. Which means that this would be a terrible choice if you want to record children or birds, etc. Because by the time it begins to record, the sound you want may be gone! Not sure why they designed the recorder this way. It appears to be an initialization issue. The recorder software just takes a while to get going. I wrote to the manufacturer to see if there was any way around the issue, but didn't receive any reply. I suppose the problem is known - you can see it's mentioned in other reviews. For my purposes it's OK. You can't beat the price for the quality and everything else. Just be aware that recording doesn't start right away. Turn it on well before you need to record something, such as a conference call, and it will perform very well.

read description please. I'm happy with purchase.
Exactly what I needed for work. This is a very good recorder. Only things to be mindful of is placement of the device (pants pocket, shirt pocket), any loud background noise. and how low others speak while recording. I would also say there is about 5 to 8 second delay from device turned off to h start of automatic recording. Also, there is no way to turn off automatic loop re-play of recordings. It does have some weight to it. Is also small enough to fit into my hand with it mostly being discreet. It is also a music player (has headphone input) which could also be a disguise when needing to switch to record mode. I didn't see any covering/casings for it on amazon, but I did find a hardcase to keep it in. I am unsure of how well it is waterproof or dust proof. Comes with a short charge cord. I would recommend this product, give it a try.

Do NOT buy this
I don't know what to make of these thousands of glowing reviews. ("Best recorder ever" says one breathless headline.) Even brand new, this "EVIDA" recorder never really worked great. The settings and menu were very unintuitive and confusing. And the audio quality of the recordings (even on the best settings) was always mediocre. In order to start recording, one has to move a switch on the side. That seems simple and straightforward. The problem is that this thing is so finicky, it's so easy to gently bump it, and have the switch flip back off. (And the "lock" switch that theoretically should prevent a recording from accidentally stopping doesn't seem to actually do anything here.) --But worse, after less than a year of using this, it's now malfunctioning in a way that I would not have believed was technologically possible. These days when I try to record something, I not only get that recording, but I get multiple other files that are fragments of that recording. And I get recordings with the metadata (the record date) from PREVIOUS recordings that were already deleted off the device. Not only is this confusing, but there is a worry that it's recording OVER the "slots" of past recordings. In short, this is outright junk. Be wary of all the 5-star reviews. This whole system is clearly fishy.
