Small and handy but not for everything
DMT is a great brand and I was happy to find these for the price. To me they are a good value but IF YOU ARE NEW TO SHARPENING KEEP READING. These are small, as is accurately stated in the product description. I bought them to keep in a tool box for touching up chisels and the like. They work great for that. I also bought a full size sharpening block to keep in the kitchen for my knives. The DMT set is great and will last for years bur is best for things smaller than a pocket knife This set is a great choice for many jobs and I recommend it, but it isn't for every job. Be safe and buy kitchen tools for the kitchen and shop tools for the toolbox.

Awesome Knife Sharpener
These are great lil diamond knife sharpeners. Each color is a different grit level. I keep these in my Bug Out Bug for sharpening in the field. Pro Tip: These are a tad small and I have large hands so I got some self adhesive hook and loop tape and stuck one side on the sharpener and the other side on a paint stir stick. Now my hands are farther away from my sharp knife. And because its hook an loop I just use one paint stir stick and switch them out as needed.

Small. Really, really small. But effective.
OK, so, first off, like the headline says, these are really small. Yeah, I know the size is listed in the ad, which is why I'm not docking stars for that, I'm just warning you. You'll think, "Oh, that's OK, I can work with that." Trust, me, they're really really small. :DThe trick I've found is to take some non-skid material (I'm using a little square of foam drawer liner stuff) and put the stone on that, near the edge of a flat surface (because they're really thin, too, so you need to be able to hang the handle of the knife off the edge) and use it that way.Once you get the hang of it, they're really effective. They took my work knife from it's beat up "cutting wires, slicing plastic wire loom, scraping gaskets, generally not being very nice to it" former state back to a nice, polished, sharp edge in about ten minutes. But man, unless you know the trick of it, they can be tricky to use.I also dislike the fact that the stone grades aren't marked on the back, but I solved that with a sharpie, so, it's not really worth complaining about too hard, I don't suppose. Overall, they're a great deal if you need a bunch of different grades of stone for not very much money, but... yeah, they take some getting used to.

not quite flat
I really like DMT products. I find them generally high quality, fast working, and long lasting. I have several. I have wanted these small stones for a while, for sharpening small items and getting into tight corners. However, I ran into this same problem with two large bench stones I ordered a while ago: they are not quite flat. That is not a problem if you are sharpening a curved edge, but if you are sharpening a straight edge, it is a problem. This seems like a manufacturing problem (though the stones arrived in a simple, unpadded plastic envelope). However, I am returning these, and trying again. With my bench stones, this worked and the second set was dead flat. I'll update if the second set is also slightly convex. Fingers crossed.6/6/22 update:Replacements were a little flatter. Decided to try flattening them myself, with some success.Bottom line: if you need an absolutely flat sharpening surface, look elsewhere. I have very flat DMT bench stones, and use them for sharpening chisels, etc. I plan to use these for hand sharpening where flatness is not crucial, so I am keeping them.

Unbroken. Very lightweight.
There are four circular divots on the bottom which I believe are for interlocking onto a bench much like Legos to aid in it not slipping and sliding as well as enabling the person sharpening to sharpen their blade without cutting hands & being able to use the whole stone while lifting it for ease of use.I don't anticipate any problems. I haven't had a chance to use them yet though. Good for my wallet and/or my hiking bag. Also good for a bugout bag.If you guys could have the package factory sealed it would help with discerning the genuine product from the counterfeit knockoffs that are garbage. Do this and increase the cost. Customer assurance that it's 100% genuine is worth an extra 1$.

Good for travel.
Used these on a bunch of different knives, ATS 34, M390, BD1N, 20CV, S35VN, S30V. These stones have been great on all these steels. I go though these 3 and finish with spyderco double stuff to get the bur off. All the edges have been amazing. The feed back of the stones it actually really good, much better than the spyderco double stuff, which has no feed back at all and very easy to mess the edge up. The DMT helps me set a really good edge because of the feed back. Will buy again once these wear out. Also they took a little bit of time to break in.

Incomplete Kit
The kit clearly states 3 pieces, and only 2 arrived. (The extra fine file was missing.)Another review posted the same issue, w/the extra fine file missing.I contacted the manufacturer, & am waiting for their response, I’ll keep you posted.

Good buy
These are limited use stones. They are great for packing in a go pack or a back pack where keeping the weight low is a priority but functionality is critical. They work well but they are short so they require great care in using them to prevent cutting yourself while using, especially in the bush where even small injuries can be critical. They do work well in removing material from the blade and preparing it for finishing stones to hone later or for a quick field sharpening when you must resort to using less than a razor sharp edge out of necessity. They are good for what they are made for you just must accept their limitations right up front. All in all, they are a great product. Just understand what they are really made for before investing in them. If you want a razor sharp edge, these are only the beginning of what it takes to get you there.
