My Favorite Brand for Home-Milling
I love Palouse grains for their quality, freshness, and overall flavor. I grind my own whole wheat flour, and these hard red winter wheat berries are perfect. When milled, they look as they should -- like typical brown whole wheat flour. ("Red" refers to the kind of wheat, not the actual color, even though the brown has red undertones.) As long as the hulls aren't cracked, these wheat berries will last for years. In addition to being milled for flour, these can be cooked as wheat berries and used in a variety of dishes that call for them. -- Debbie Lee Wesselmann

Product review.
My house smelled amazing for 12 hours after use. I have made 2 loads of bread and pizza crust now with this product. The bread is very good and the pizza crust was 6/10. This grain is not for pizza so a 6 is a high mark here. 100% will but this particular grain again. Very good flavor. My only complaint is the same as always. Wish it was cheaper. This will never change for me lol.

Go-To For Sprouting Wheat Grass
I love this brand and all of their products. These wheat berries sprout quickly, making a wonderful snack for my chickens. The germination rate has been 100%, which says great things about the quality of product and manufacturer cleanliness. The chickens love it and a bag lasts quite a while for my 11 birds.

Good germination rates when planted outside in southeast Michigan
I am a newbie grain grower trying to get into growing winter wheat for home consumption. I live in southeast Michigan, about 30 miles north of Detroit. Our USDA hardiness zone is right on the border between 5b and 6a. I bought this wheat and gave it a try. (Even if it doesn't produce grain, at least I have a nice bag of red wheat that I can mill into tasty baking flour.) I started planting- according to standard winter wheat planting guidelines- in mid-September of 2019. I planted row after row all the way up to early October. That way I have a spectrum of planting dates to test. It got really hot in September, so most of the mid-September shoots did not germinate well, and many of the ones that did germinate died. The wheat I planted toward the end of September and the beginning of October had much higher survival rates. They are shown in the attached picture. Note that mice LOVE to eat the tender green shoots as they grow. My plot suffered tremendously while a colony of mice mowed down row after row. I had to resort to lots of mouse traps to slow down the attack. However, many of the damaged shoots grew back. At this point (late January 2020), the shoots are still green and appear to be alive. Now that there is snow on the ground they should be protected from the worst of the cold temperatures. I expect to get rapid growth upon the spring thaw. I am hoping for a late summer harvest of wheat. I will plan to update this post according to events as they unfold.

Fast sprouting and growing!
I planted them on a Sunday late afternoon after I got them delivered same day, and by Wednesday morning, already had plenty of sprouts coming up. My cat is hopefully going to love this!
