very nice board. fits my pieces up to a 1.4 inch base well. square size is around1.75-1.8 inches. This would have been helpful to know before purchasing(note to seller). It is also slightly larger than a 16 inch board(close to 16.5). best value in a board I have found for quality/cost ratio. highly recommend.

This is just what I wanted. It's solid and well made, but it's not so fancy I'm afraid to drink coffee while I'm doing chess problems on it like some of those luxury chess boards! It's the perfect size for the Professional Staunton set with the 3" king from Royal Chess Mall.

Very nice looking for the price. The only cons is that the bottom is covered with felt, which in my opinion is not very durable. However the wood surface and all four edges are made of real wood, whereas other boards in that price range are made of veneer. It shows well.Be careful with the description, that says at the time I write this that the king should be 3. 5". This is not correct.If I had to buy it again, I would double check the size of my chess pieces - the base of the king, not the height of the king. Then check online the recommended size of the square. Look up for the article "chess board dimension" on chess.com.

Arrived in perfect condition and exactly what I wanted. It is beautifully made and I love the protective backing which keeps it from scratching surfaces.

The chess board is beautiful, but badly warped. Like 1/4" warped. Wobbled terrible on a flat surface. I don't like sending stuff back, so I decided to try and fix. I put some wood under two corners of chess board and applying weight to the other two corners forcing them down with about 80 lbs. of weight and after 4 days did help some but was still warped. I finally had to spray water on the underneath side of chess board which is completely covered in felt to get the wood more pliable and repeat above process and it worked. I now have the chess board pretty flat. I don't think most people would want to go through what I had to do. Also, even if the chess board wasn't warped, I think it's overpriced, but 16" wood chess boards didn't seem as common as other size chess boards, so I was kind of stuck paying the high price and stuck fixing this one.

I enjoy using this board, which is about the best that can be said about a chessboard...
