Very good deal
This is a fabulous set. It came in this really pretty box with a folder for each season. The folders are cardboard and will definitely scratch the discs when removed and reinserted. We bought a DVD case to put the discs in instead of keeping them in the original folders to prevent scratching.Others have complained that they became scratched and we wanted to avoid this issue all together. We found a cheap case for them and love this series. Such a wholesome, beautiful show!Would recommend! :)

Some episodes are unplayable.
I love Little House on the Prairie but this complete series was a great disappointment. The main reason is that 27 of the episodes would not play. I could understand one episode not playing, but 27 is unacceptable. The picture quality was good but in some of the episodes that did play, there was a humming sound in the background. And in other episodes there was an echoing in the background. Also another disappointment was that this series didn't include the "Little House Years" 3 episodes in the middle of season 6 that contained flasbacks of prior seasons. The 27 episodes that didn't play are: S2 D2 E7; S2 D4 E16; S3 D1 E3; S3 D2 E7; S4 D1 E3; S5 D1 E3; S5 D2 E8; S5 D3 E13; S5 D4 E18; S6 D1 E3; S6 D2 E8; S6 D3 E13; S6 D4 E18; S6 D5 E23; S7 D1 E12; S7 D1 E3; S7 D1 E4; S7 D3 E13; S7 D4 516; S7 D4 E17; S8 D1 E3; S8 D1 E4; S8 D2 E8; S8 D3 E12; S8 D3 E13; S8 D4 E17; S9 D4 E16.

This is true quality TV.
Shows like these are such a refreshing respite from all the smutty trash that's all over TV today.I see a lot of older shows coming back on television. I also see more Christian based movies playing in movie theaters. I think a lot of people are craving more shows with morals, a strong family unit, clean dialogue and more modest attire."Little House on the Prairie" fits that bill to a T.I've watched all 9 seasons and the Special Features in less than a week.I can actually binge watch TV shows like these without getting bored. Not so with the new, empty shows airing on just about every channel. Those, I have to take breaks from often."LHOTP" is a family friendly series. No cussing, sexual situations, gory scenes or nudity. Being a bully, telling lies and doing or saying evil, vindictive things is condemned not condoned or meant to be looked up to.Unfortunately, many TV shows and movies today try to make being bad, getting revenge and sleeping around look like good things to strive for.Sex, nudity and foul language does not a good movie make.Unlike what certain whiners think about the "LHOTP" TV show and the collection of books, neither is racist. Banning the books in certain libraries was completely ridiculous.I'm glad to see it had no effect on DVD and book sales."LHOTP" is now streaming on Amazon. So, even negative publicity is still publicity.I highly recommend this series. A wonderful show for all ages.If some people are influenced by what they watch then I'd rather they be influenced by TV shows like "LHOTP". Believe me, you could do a whole lot worse.Better to look up to regular people with good moral values than some cutesy, rich celebrity using their fame and $$ to try to politically bully people with crazy, unfair ultimatums.Get the DVD set of "LHOTP". Get the books, too.You won't regret it.

Good, but some problems
The episodes are great for the most part, but some episodes have had times where it freezes. Some worse than others. I'm half way through, hopefully there won't be too many more freezes.

Brought back cherished childhood memories
Got my DVD set early. It's even better than I remember. The sound is cinematic and the images are more crisp and vivid. I used to watch this TV series with my family during my high school and college years in the Philippines. That glorious music just brings me back to the halcyon days of my youth. I read the reviews and noticed that there are tiny red sticky flecks on some of the DVDs; So I gently cleaned them with mild soap and facial tissue. Once dry, the discs seemed to play okay. However, there were a few episodes which skipped and wouldn't continue playing. The packaging is shoddy and causes scratches, so I put each disc inside a fold top sandwich bag. It's a lot of work, but owning this incomparable masterpiece for $45 will be well worth my efforts.
