Love the option of a smaller Dissect-it kit! We ordered two different ones and they were both a hit with the 7 and 9 year olds. The amber kit gave us the opportunity to deep dive into the importance of insects preserves in amber and what we can learn from them. The little fly inside was bigger than expected, great quality and attention was paid to getting the details right.

The idea is incredible and this is brilliant way to make sicence fun, but my specimen was seemingly dried up. Otherwise I would be raving positive, about this. We did get to keep the butterfly.

Had a lot of fun doing these with my 6 and 12 year old kids. Really gets them curious and thinking. They loved it !

Kiddo had a lot of fun poking through this. She found the little skeletons adorable. Was easy to clean up, didn't smell too strongly of anything. Good little gift to introduce them to vulture culture before moving on to the real thing.

You don’t get to dissect anything. It’s slime with a plastic butterfly inside. No dissection required. We opened the plastic and the congealed slime fell away. Lame as heck.

I really liked this concept and thought it would be a great activity for my son. From opening to completion, the entire activity took about 2 minutes. It did spark some conversation around the life cycle of a caterpillar/butterfly but overall, I don't think this activity was worth it.

I have purchased this item for a girl age 9. She couldn't wait to open the package. After taking part in a Science Summer Camp she mentioned a couple of time that she wanted to dissect a frog and learn more about the body parts of this animal. But she wouldn't want to do it with a live animal. She was so happy that she called a friend over and both did the project. The best part is the refill for a second frog to create. Younger children would need supervision of an adult, but the 9-year old read the instructions and could do it on her own. Great product.
