Seemingly good quality...works very well. I wanted a nice commercial vacuum and I think this is it.
Works great and it's high pitched. I like the canister. Not the easiest to empty but a quality vacuum. Does NOT need to be emptied every time. Great suction. Not too heavy. The cord could be longer by about 5 feet.

I love this vacuum, I own 6 units for our cleaning business.
Durable, light and powerful, we have been use this model for our home cleaning business in the past 10 years and still a great product.

Lightweight with good suction
As my husband was assembling this vacuum (it does take a fair bit more assembly than most) he commented on how questionable the build quality was, pointing to hinges which he estimated to be 3/16" thick. He is anticipating it to not last very long, also comenting on how disappointing this was from Bissel. Yes, Bissel makes this vacuum, and in my experience, Bissel makes very good vacuums. We have at least 2, and they compete very well with Hoover in both categories (we have a ridiculous number of vacuum cleaners, in part because people thought we didn't, but that is a long story and a distraction ;) So, in my experience Bissel makes very good vacuums, and also vacuums with great build quality. This is not up to the standard of our other Bissel vacuums in that respect. I believe this is meant to compete with the Oreck, which we also have (no, don't ask)_ By comparison to the Oreck, the Sanitaire is heavier, and not as well built, but it does have a bin rather than a bag. Our Oreck does not see an awful lot of use because it uses $30 vacuum bags (to be clear I mean $30. each). In general both my husband and I prefer bags because the bins do put some of that dust/ dirt/ mold/ dander back in the air when you empty them. Bins are more economical, but generally vacuum bags are not that costly, unless you are talking about the Oreck. In some ways the Sanitaire can be compared to a stick vacuum. It is heavier, and also more powerful than stick vacuums, but the build quality is closer. The suction on the Sanitaire is very good, and it did a great job with pet hair (which we have in abundance) but the one big flaw, and I consider it a HUGE flaw is that it can not be used on hard floors. Given that half of our house is teak parquet, that makes this yet another accessory vacuum, one of very limited utility, and only because it is relatively easy to carry it up stairs, which we did, and there it will stay because I can not use it (safely) to clean most of my house. I might chance it on the stone, but am not going to risk damaging the teak, and will use our Hoover, or, one of our other Bissels to clean most of the house.; In sum, DO NOT buy this vacuum if you need to clean hard floors. It specifically says that it may damage hard floors with the brushes, which can not be turned off. It does a fairly good job with carpeting, is lightweight compared to traditional vacuums (though the build quality suffers by comparison, even to vacuums made by the same company) . It also does not have a light, or the tools we have with both our Hover(s) and other Bissels. Pros: Light weight and maneuverable (compared to a traditional vacuums) Dust bin as opposed to bag (advantage or disadvantage depending on ytou perspective) Very good suction Cons: Can not be used on hard floors No light No tools No retractable cord The main reason to purchase this vacuum is if you need a light weight vacuum to cary up stairs. It is a good deal less than the Oreck and does not cost anywhere near as much to maintain. It does not have the build quality of either the Oreck, or other Bissels. Their pet vac is a favorite in our house. We have been using it for years. It works flawlessly, has onboard tools and a retractable cord, but it is heavy, like most other full sized vacuums.

Best vacuum I've ever used!
This thing is awesome! Basic old school vacuum that has better suction and cleaning capabilities than any other vacuum I've ever owned. This just replaced a dyson we had for just a few years that never worked as well as this one did on its first try! Best part is that it's also bagless. I won't be buying any other brand from here on out.

This is a vacuum.
only complaint is that the box says made in Mexico and the Amazon product Description said made in the USA which is why I pulled the trigger on this one which was a few dollars higher than the other one that UPS destroyed. I guess they assume my labor putting it together is the made in the USA part. I have no problem with it being made in Mexico as the other one said it was made in Mexico. This is a vacuum this is where the vacuum is supposed to be this technology was perfected in the 1950s and you should have a vacuum from the 1950s or the S vacuum which is a very nice feature of being bagless.

Brush roll issue
The brush roll is crumbling after two weeks of use. The rest of the vacuum isems to be fine but we have only had it for two weeks now. Going to purchase a new metal brush roll and hope it will last longer than two weeks. Update 12/3/2025 The vacuum is belt driven and no longer runs correctly. A waste of money for a short time period.

Super Vac
Great vacuum, well built, commercial quality, long cord.

Serious suction
Instructions for assembling the unit could be better written and the photos/line drawings lack details, but once you get it running, his vacuum sucks up dirt, hair, and everything else on our rug without a problem. I like the removable plastic dirt trap, but opening it turned out to be a bit of a learning experience. I'd buy this again!
