Philips R5005/10 Clock Radio, DAB+ Radio (2.5-Inch Full-Range Speaker, Compact Design, DAB+/FM Radio, Shiny Black Display, Dual Alarms), Brown/Grey

Bought Feb '24 for £40.63 (Amazon warehouse deal, RRP at the time was over £60). A great little DAB plus radio, great sound and very good reception on all bands (London). Chose this model because of the brand, reviews and because the buttons are on the top, these small radios are light weight and to stop them moving sometimes requires two hands to be used, if the buttons are at the front. The display is a good size another plus is the radio remembers your choices even after being switched off at the mains. Only negative is the quick start guide which I found confusing. Best advice I can offer is to press the select button after making a choice and if possible go to the philips web site for better use instructions.

This clock radio has great sound quality, but if you're fumbling for the buttons when you're half awake or don't have your glasses on, you may struggle to see what button to press as the text is tiny and all the buttons are grouped together in one panel. I also often listen to the radio in the night while my partner is asleep, and unfortunately the lowest volume of the radio is too high for me do do this. The illuminated face is very bright - bright enough that you can see your way around the bedroom at night using this alone. The clock radio looks great, but the other issues with it mean that I'm not entirely happy with it.

Needed a clock radio with preset buttons and easy to use interface for my 92 year old Nan to operate. I also wanted a front facing speaker and decent sound because her ears aren't as good as they were in the 1940's. A couple of the buttons are a bit fiddly still and changing some settings I had to do myself going through a menu system. But day to day operation is great, sound is great and she can change station and turn it on off / up and down herself without needing to ring me up for help!

This was bought for my son, he loves it, say's it has nice tone looks good, recommend this.

I like the look and compact size of this radio. Also the snooze function and option to dim the display was a must for me as I’m drifting off to sleep. However as it’s on the bedside table near my head I’d like the volume to be very low, but the lowest setting is still too loud. I’m having to put something in front of the speaker to muffle it which is very annoying.

Had to return this product. Simply because I’d purchased it as an alarm clock more than a radio. But there were too many buttons that weren’t clear of what they were. Thus making it hard to switch off alarm in the dark. There wasn’t enough clear instructions But the unit it’s self was well made

The buttons are quite small. Set up is easy and the sound is crystal clear. Perfect size for bedside table. The light is a bit bright even when dimmed but we just turn it towards the wall!

Given my basic old cabled digital alarm clock this looks great and has many useful functions. However the cable is quite short which means it can only sit in one place and of course, that is where I have no DAB signal which means I can only use the analogue radio. I also found the instructions tricky: all pictures, no words, which is fine to a point; e.g. the instructions seem to imply you can set-up 2 alarms, however I always get "set alarm 1" not 2 and I'm not sure how to/ if I can have 2 alarms; so I have to use 1!

Buena calidad, buen sonido, bonito. Facil de reglar.

TECNOLOGIA PHILIPS, DESIGN MODERNO Acquisto azzeccato, ricezione DAB eccellente, audio con bassi ottimi grazie alla cassa in legno. Sintonizzatore automatico dei canali, possibilità di impostare 4 canali preferiti. Ottima radio per il mio utilizzo, sicuramente non adatta a chi preferisce fare "zapping" più velocemente. Io ho impostato i canali preferiti e in questo modo l'utilizzo è più semplice. Orario sempre leggibile sul display, la stazione radio viene visualizzata e volendo si può scorrere alcune informazioni e far apparire il titolo del brano "on air" in quel momento,oppure la data corrente. Data e ora si aggiornano automaticamente grazie alla trasmissione DAB. Pagata 50€.

Der Radiowecker ist gut verarbeitet und sieht gut aus. Er ist relativ klein, so dass er gut auf den Nachttisch passt. Der Klang ist gut und klar bei DAB, aber auch die analogen Sender werden gut empfangen (hier natürlich ein nicht so schönes Klangbild, wie bei DAB). Es lassen sich 2 Alarme programmieren. Hier kann zwischen DAB oder analogem Empfang gewählt werden. Die Alarme können jeweils einmalig, wochentags oder am Wochenende eingestellt werden. Man kann die Lautstärke und die Dauer des Weckers einstellen. Das Display des Weckers in in der Werkeinstellung sehr hell, dies lässt sich aber über ein längeres Drücken der Presettaste bei ausgeschaltetem Gerät einstellen. Hierbei geht dss Gerät dann in den LCD Contrast Modus und über die Tuningtaste lässt sich die Helligkeit regulieren. Anschließend speichert man die Eingabe über scan/select. Insgesamt ein schöner funktioneller Radiowecker, der auch sonst gut als normales Radio verwendet werden kann.

More good looks than anything else. It really only works as a simple clock radio as buttons are hard to press and the set of controls being somewhat confusing. No external audio input connection or bluetooth.
