A wonderful lecture for all !
I've got used to DK Eyewitness guides - it is a real "bible" for me whenever I want to travel to a certain part of the world ( my previous experiences , for example , Egypt or Thailand ,etc.) giving me all the necessary information I want about that specific land and its culture ,history , people , etc. , but not at least useful , sofisticated information and detailed tips for my travel , no matter whether it would be a package or individual travel ! I am grateful for the scholar editors presenting them many thanks and my gratefulness for their laborious work and documentation ! I warmly recommend to all travellers your books - never look at the price , what is inside DK Eyewitness guide worth a lot more ! Congratulations and cheers from , Faithfully yours , Victor Balint ( Transylvania )

Beautiful but too much to travel with
I bought this for a recent one-month trip to India - my first visit there. I loved the color photos and abbreviated descriptions...anything more, I went to Google or Wikipedia. It is well-organized by region and has good highlights. However, I would NOT recommend bringing this on the trip with you - It weighs over 5 lbs and you'll need that space when you come back (think of all the spices and textiles...). I didn't really seem to refer to it during my travels throughout northern India. The one time I really did consult it was when I made an instantaneous change of plan - decided to go to Kashmir instead of Kerala, the few pages on Kashmir were bare-bones informative and I found as much on the internet. So, get the guide to prepare or reminisce but don't bother to bring it -- too heavy and too beautiful. Instead, would get Lonely Planet or another guide that you wouldn't mind ripping pertinent pages out to bring with you.

Pictures!
The important thing for me is that this book - like all DK Eyewitness travel books - shows you what there is to see and does so in an organized manner. I find these books are essential for travel planning if you are a sightseer. All the museums, art galleries, historical sights and other travel information are well illustrated. It is also comprehensive so you don't miss much. I cannot see the value of other travel books that don't illustrate.

Fantastic
I was so happy when I got this book as it covers fairly every city in India. I always like to buy DK travels books/guides for they always have colored pictures, information and details about places to stay, eat, or visit in a city. If you are planning to go to India, buy this travel book and you will be satisfied.I am looking forward to my trip next October.

Great help in planning an itinerary!
Full of good information, beautiful photos that convince the traveller that she simply must not miss this site! Includes some "off the beaten track" locations that are not in other guides. Arranged in a logical and organized fashion so that info for each state is easily accessible!

a little bit of wear to the cover but the pages are in great condition. gives much detail on each page for popular tourist attractions and places to visit all over the country. i'd assume you would want a travel agent or other guide to assist with booking hotels and transportation and such, but this is still a good book even if you are simply interested in sites around the country. it is a heavy book but personally i wouldn't find it too difficult to carry along while traveling. it isn't the size of a texbook - it is in thickness, but length/width is the size of your average novel.

DK strikes again
I buy DK guides as my bible when I go somewhere for which DK has an eyewitness guide. This one is literally a Bible in size too. I have sometimes cut the guides and only taken the areas I'll be in. I buy them for all over the world

Never Leave Home W/out It
I would defenitly recommend this book if you are doing a selfguided. Packed with useful information. Still useful if you are doing a guided tour as well. I only wish it would have warned me about the food.
