No modifications needed, fine threaded screws/bolts
I just received this plate holder about 30 minutes ago. Took about 15 min for an install. Be aware, the mounting holes are a fine thread, I’m not certain of the width of the bolt needed, but that’s where 10 min of the install came in, searching for the right bolts that would fit since it didn’t come with any. Also, a lot of people are saying you have to modify your plate to make it fit in the holes provided, I did not have to modify my plate at all in Texas. It fit perfectly.

Works but license holes don't line up.
I have winches on the front and rear of my F150. I needed somewhere to mount the license plates. This mounting bracket met that need. However, the license plate holes and blind nuts do not line up with the license plates or with license plate frames that do not have slotted mounting holes.

sturdy but supplied pins too large and no plate screws
This is well built and the dimensions ultimately met my needs but the supplied hardware didn't fit and the machine screws for the license plate were not supplied. The bolts supplied to replace the pins in the vertical rollers of the fairlead were too wide for me. I have a Traveller 9000 winch (EWX9000F). I had to purchase 0.5"x5.5" bolts to fit the holes on my fairlead, along with 4 flat washers, 2 split washers and 2 nuts. I couldn't find the specs for the license plate screws but the bosses are for M6 x 0.75mm machine screws. These should have been supplied! As others have mentioned, the bosses for the license plate may not fit . My Maryland license plate holes did not line up. Others have complained that the springs are not strong enough. I removed the nut from the bolt acting as the hinge, pulled the bolt back through one hole, wound the spring a half turn tighter, put the bolt back through the pivot holes and reattached the nut. Now it works great.

Great product for the money
Installed on a aftermarket Hanson bumper equipped Rubicon with Warn 9.5TI winch with standard cable and roller fairlead. The hinge spacing and hole alignment on the pins mounting to the fairlead was within tolerance and needed no modifications to install. I was actually able to use my stock fairlead pins which have a snap ring fastener to retain and did not have to use the supplied bolts, stock pins have less to hang up on trail obstacles. Was able to give the springs and extra turn to give more tension to hold plate mount away while winch is in use. Retainer clips for rollers seem sufficient to hold plate in down position. Minor mods to Idaho plate holes was done with rat tail file to bring holes into alignment. Plate was backed with threaded inserts for the license plate mount but no included bolts, no big deal if you have any shop stock but otherwise a trip to the hardware store will be required to finish install. Overall pleased with the price and quality of the product to resolve the issue of no good place to mount a front plate on a street legal rock crawler.

Holes don’t line up
Does what it’s supposed to. The mounting holes on the brackets are way off from lining up with the license plate holes. About 1/8” too narrow. Also did not provide bolts to mount the license plate. Not a big deal but the bracket is tapped for bolts. Would lead me to think bolts would be provided.

Worked great after spinning the springs.
Out of the box the springs are loose. Had to pull the bolt and twist the springs one turn to get them to even lift the beefy plate itself (this one is much stronger than the other I tried and returned). Luckily, the springs are just right now and hold up my vintage pewter plate. Did hold up a Georgia license plate to the holes and I would have to open each hole an 8th of an inch to fit a state plate. Worked great for my application. You absolutely NEED a set of clip removal pliers to pull the pins out of the Warn fairlead. New bolts were perfect. Lastly, the license plate bolts needed are M6 threaded and I put washers between the license plate and mounting plate to clear the bolt heads that hold the roller clips (these are very tight and secure on the rollers, just make sure they line up evenly to the rollers before you tighten them down, then mount your plate). Can't beat the price bc it includes the long roller bolts and lock nuts (don't tighten too much bc the rollers still need to spin freely),

You WILL have to modify for plates to fit.
Holes for license plate don't live up at all. If the holes were slots instead of pressed nuts this would be a 5 star product across the board.

Great product! But you will rhave to do some fitting of your license plate.
Over all very great product. Very sturdy, looks very clean. Like most of the other people who wrote a review, I had to bore out the holes on my license plate to fit it on here, that wasn't too bad, adding some washers to the 4 M6 bolts (i reccomend picking up stainless steel) doing that hid the slot i had to make in order to fit the license plate in with a drill bit.... all & all I'm very pleased with it, and get alot of compliments.
