The Rosary of Pope John Paul II: A Compendium of the Gospel

The Rosary of Pope John Paul II is a very brief manual for praying the Rosary according to John Paul II’s revisions. It’s not necessarily a book to be read (although it may be approached in that way) but rather one to be used during prayer. John Paul II added to the Rosary a fourth set of meditations (to be prayed in sequence with the traditional three sets). This fourth set he called the Luminous Mysteries (specifically the baptism of the Lord, the wedding feast at Cana, the preaching of the Kingdom, the Transfiguration, and the institution of the Eucharist). The booklet includes these and the other three sets of Mysteries along with specific verses of Scripture for each Mystery to aid in meditation. A weekly schedule is suggested in which the Joyful Mysteries are contemplated on Monday and Saturday, the Sorrowful Mysteries on Tuesday and Friday, the Glorious Mysteries on Wednesday and Sunday, and the Luminous Mysteries on Thursday.

Very seldom has the current generation had the privilege of being an actual part of a Saints prayer life while he was actually living.Pope John Paul II was a great leader of young and old Catholics for many years. Many U.S. communities had the honor of his visiting even before he became a Pope. April 27th 2014 he will be canonized a Saint. His Rosary prayers clearly reflect his primary belief that God is a God of mercy and Love. The words clearly convey a heart that loves as Jesus loves.

I was hoping that this book would have some of John Paul the Great's commentary, as the title suggests. Other than the brief introduction, it's nothing more than what you can get anywhere online or in a pamphlet. If you already pray the Rosary (I hope you do) you probably know the material in this small booklet. If you want something more in depth, I suggest you look elsewhere.

Very pleased with the Luminous Mysteries of Saint Pope John Paul II. Expressive, concise, easy-to-follow. A great gift for all who revere John Paul II and the Holy Rosary.

I find this booklet very helpful with my devotion of praying all the mysteries (20 mysteries of them) before the Blessed Sacrament each day. Thanks!

Great guide to the rosary and delivered on time

THE ROSARY OF JOHN PAUL II. SAINT JOHN PAUL THE GREAT HAS TAUGHT US SO MUCH AND HAS GIVEN US MORE OF SAINT JOHN PAUL II. WE FEEL CLOSE TO SAINT JOHN PAUL AND OUR BLESSED MOTHER.

Didn't like the text of the scripture quotes. Modern interpretation ruined it for me. Should use RSVCE for better translation!!!

This is a very brief introduction to the Holy Rosary, including the Luminous Mysteries added by Blessed Pope John Paul II. It is very light on content and, even at this low price, I have found more substantial ebooks on the Rosary than this one. I was also put off by the use of a jarringly unfamiliar translation of the Bible rather than the translations used at Mass or in the Divine Office. Not recommended.
