Which murder she wrote
Hard to rate because there are 3 choices that determines the stars rating and that is there are 3 murder she wrote. The tv series, the books written by Donald Bain, and the current ones written by Jon land. Jon land apparently didn’t read any of bain’s books- as Sheriff Metzger goes from married to Adele, to divorced and married to Maureen, to Jon land having him married to Adele. Not a little change. Add to that all the other contradictions like who taught jessica to fly to she doesn’t fly. It’s like Jon land watched the tv series and picked up from there-yet for those who read the books, it changes canon (the storyline all books usually follow-notable exceptions are Star Wars and Star Trek, which both pretty much said, we can’t sell anymore, so let’s just come up with a new theme and hope no one realizes there are multiple story timelines)- and that’s how I feel with Land’s books. It throws out the little quirks and traits that Bain’s had written. I wish there was a disclaimer: all books written by Land pick up from the tv series. Then I could just chuck Bains’ books in my mind. Instead, I have to figure out which storyline to follow. I do feel like Land doesn’t write as nice, for a cozy mystery. But then again, I didn’t care for the way fletcher acted (in the tv series) towards those who were unfaithful (as if it was ‘understandable’ and so hard for the bigamist or unfaithful spouse).

Small Errors are Annoying
This book is a good one. The reason I did not give it 5 stars is because1) Jessica's septic tank was removed, can't be replaced until after Christmas, yet she continues to live in the house and even has houseguests over Christmas. Obviously the author has never lived with a septic system. (Hint to the author: you cannot use any plumbing if the septic system isn't attached. She would need to vacate until it was completely fixed.)and 2) although I am very glad the MSW series continues, I cannot get used to the "new and improved" Jessica. She is a bit sarcastic and sometimes even caustic in her remarks to Seth and Mort. She also is not as physically fit as she used to be. These are just little things, but it is annoying to those of us who have read the original author's series and watched the TV show.

disappointing book
this book with a different author then rest is not that good. And author needs to do more research when wrighting about septic systems, a 15 year old septic system is not out of date and should not of been replaced, it would of been better if he wrote that a pipe was cracked and needed to be replaced or drain field failed and needed to be redone. Also this book is slow paced and did not even have me reading back of of book to see who did it like most good mystery books have me doing, i read it because i bought it but it was not that good

Morts wife confusion
Loved the book and I’ve read every book written but why is Mort married to Adele again when all the other books he’s married to his second wife Maureen.

HAIL, HAIL THE GANG’S ALL HERE! A HOLIDAY GREETING IN MURDER, SHE WROTE STYLE
It wasn’t enough to give Jessica Fletcher a makeover in recent Murder, She Wrote novels – even her house burned down! – now it turns out that even the history of the once-pristine Cabot Cove, Jessica’s beloved hometown in Maine, isn’t immune from change, as readers who turn to Murder in Season will discover. But, like me, if you’re a longtime Murder, She Wrote aficionado and were at first reluctant to accept the changes made a few novels back, you’re bound to approve of this tale, set before Christmas. The entire cast of Murder, She Wrote regulars are assembled – Seth, Mort, Jessica’s nephew, Grady and grandnephew Frank, private eye Harry McGraw, and even retired sheriff Amos Tupper in a small role – joining Jessica for the one of the ingenious and intriguing mysteries of this series.Disruption is once again the name of the game as Jessica is eagerly preparing for the upcoming holiday in her newly restored home with Grady and family when a wooden chest, along with the skeletal remains of two bodies, are discovered in her yard while a new septic system is about to be installed. Suddenly, a shocking tale begins to unravel regarding the dark secrets of her hometown’s founders, involving slavery, stolen diamonds, and even murder. While Cabot Cove prepares for its annual Christmas Day Parade and Jessica rehearses for her role as narrator for a reading of A Christmas Carol, she must solve a multi-layered mystery originating with the town’s founders that stretches into the present. And here is why Murder in Season makes for such resistible reading: it offers the reader a holiday stocking overflowing with goodies lovers of whodunits cherish – strange characters, lots of possible clues, chapter-ending cliffhangers and twists and turns right up to the final pages. Taking care not to spoil things, the clue that unmasks the killer is found amid the gift wrappings on Jessica’s living room floor. Two questions nagged at me as I read Murder in Season: (1) Why would the killer, a Cabot Cove resident, hide the bones of two dead bodies in the yard of Jessica Fletcher amid the restoration of her home, knowing her reputation for mystery solving? (2) Why is Cabot Cove’s Christmas Parade held on Christmas Day afternoon, a time when most people are home with families and Santa has already returned to the North Pole? Maybe I’m just a little too picky…Horrifying at times, yet humorous and heartwarming, Murder in Season should be an early Christmas present to yourself, to be unwrapped and savored well before your own holiday frenzy begins.

Just Like The TV Show
I really enjoyed this book. I had stopped reading Murder She Wrote when Jon Land took over because nothing was the same. This one however was great. I did have to put out of my mind that it would not be realistic to live in a house without having a septic tank hooked up. Maybe the old one was still in place, right? Imagination can fix anything. Otherwise the book was great, it was fun reading with all the familiar characters, Seth, Mort, Harry McGraw, even Grady. It drew me in and kept me looking forward to the next chance I had to read. We even heard from Amos Tupper. I know Adele and Maureen were Mort's wives and in this one it was Adele ... so I just went with it. She's never a major character anyway. It was an enjoyable and entertaining read. I hope the next is as well. I hope to hear more from Seth as well in future books.

If you love Jessica Fletcher, or Jon Land books, this one is for you.
Jon has succeeded yet again. Taking over writing a book franchise is no easy feat. In what I can only describe as a cosy thriller, the past and present have been woven together by an excellent hand. The book series still has its original feel whilst current times are cleverly interwoven. If you love Jessica fletcher, or Jon Land books, this one is for you.

Bones In The Back Yard...
It’s holiday season in Cabot Cove. Chaos ensues, however, when Jessica discovers bones in the back yard and the mystery begins. We’re definitely seeing a more gutsy, hard boiled Jessica Fletcher in these latest offerings from Jon Land. I’m finding them wholly enjoyable, even as a long term reader of the early, original more cosy scenarios. A fast paced, energetic read. Great fun.
