An Amazing Read - Wish I'd found Uncle Jack 10 years ago!!! Take a leadership role in optimizing your own health.Who wouldn't want to do that? Only a lazy person with low dopamine, who likes to follow not lead. What an eye opener. Doctors are in the system and follow a standard of care. While it's true Dr. Jack -- well, he is a doc too, he turns the old paradigm for health on its head, and teaches readers to embrace wellbeing, take charge of it, and offers insights on what makes people sick -- and drives home the fact that genes do not determine outcome. YOU can modify genetic expression by living right, by eating right!The book will not give you a blueprint for what to eat and what not to eat. But this is not a recipe book, it's more of an explanation of the "why" and the "how" about symptoms and health. Why do we get sick? How do we fix it?It recommends other books by learned professionals where you can deep dive for success. It's up to you the reader if after tackling Jack Kruse's Epi-Paleo RX, you want to push and learn more, and take charge of your body and health. Also every chapter is cited -- plenty of referenced material for an autodidactic to tackle if interest is there.What's in the book.....1) Educates by outlining 12 baseline lab tests needed to "bio-hack" (his words) yourself -- Lipid panels, Serum Iron, VO2 max, Homocysteine and others. He DOES NOT simply list test names. No, he explains the WHY behind the tests and what results might mean. He dives into things like high cortisol -- when it's high for a long time, your body will steal pregnenolone from other hormones...so you can keep making cortisol. Who gets robbed? Progesterone (it decreases); DHEA; estrogen; testosterone; and if I remember right Vitamin D. [I took notes on some of the book which I devoured yesterday in a few hours].2) Dives into what Vitamin D does inside your body. Why do you need it? He discusses the role of Vitamin D and why someone with an autoimmune disease must have much higher levels.3) Discusses the SAD (Standard American Diet) and how it has not delivered on optimal health; in fact, the opposite is true. After reading Uncle Jack's book you'll find the acronym in capital letters -- is actually quite fitting.4) Explains bone health and hormones needed for proper bone formation. The tie-in between Vitamin D and Vitamin K2 -- need it for Osteocalcin (important to bone formation). Low K2...calcification in arteries, etc. [An aside -- I HIGHLY recommend reading Robert Becker's THE BODY ELECTRIC, if you are interested in bones etc. That book was AMAZING! And Dr. Kruse has mentioned it many times, on podcasts, on X, in blogs etc.].5) A whole section is devoted to Leptin and Leptin resistance -- and he ties it in to osteoporosis. High leptin ---> insulin resistance. Dr. Kruse outlines how to beat leptin resistance. It takes effort. He did it. He helped his family too! Diabetes is tied into Leptin Resistance. Uncle Jack explains.6) Autoimmunity and leaky gut get an entire chapter. Look at the SAD (Std American Diet) -- how many people do you know with gut problems or heartburn, indigestion, flatulence, IBD etc....it's becoming more and more common. Twenty years ago did anybody know what Crohn's disease was? Uncle Jack outlines steps you can take to help heal a leaky gut.Nobody should eat grains. NOBODY. And that's not confined to those afflicted by illnesses linked with the chapter title.7) One of my favorite chapters was the case study chapter -- real people, real results.8) Dr. Kruse advocates Cold Thermogenesis (sitting in ice bath -- he walks you through how to acclimate -- don't be stupid and just dive in); he outlines certain situations where one would NOT be a candidate for CT depending on bloodwork. I found it amazing that for pain reduction (CT helps) Dr. Kruse actually experimented on HIMSELF. He had plastic surgery simply to create "pain" so that he could treat it experimentally on himself using CT therapy. No narcotics post surgery.....I just about spit out my coffee yesterday morning when reading that section. Amazing. When you know you can't get a human trial going...who better to try it on than yourself. N=1.... a small sample size, but he saw results. He was the "one". There are many benefits of CT -- fat burn, cold adaptation, higher calorie burn, overall health -- he provides many morsels.Get the book and learn from it. Don't stop after reading the book -- check out the others he recommends. Every chapter is sourced with references. And recommended reading material is sprinkled throughout the prose.The book is well-written and easy enough to understand (for anyone -- techy or not) that you can take charge of your life and your health, starting today.One last comment. In our household we eat really well (organic but we are just 2 people -- we do not eat out because of health issue)s. I always hear people tell me, I cannot eat organic or pasture raised eggs. It's too expensive for my family. I get that if you have 3 kids, and 5 mouths to feed it can be very expensive. BUT then I see...these people have a lawn service (over $2k a season); they have cable, Hulu, Paramount+, eat out three times a week, a new car every three years and take three vacations a year to far off lands.... and I could go on and on.... And I get that people work much longer hours. But when you add up a latte 5 days a week and maybe a muffin etc...there are small steps anyone can take to improve health and without your health you are nothing. I became very sick in menopause (gluten intolerant) and had brain fog and a host of other issues. Once we started giving up grains, and using organic foods wherever possible (all but avocadoes and onions) etc. we started to feel better. WAY better. Is it expensive? Yes, but try to take small steps. Buy a local farm organic grass fed cow (1/4th ) and freeze it; go in with neighbors/family. Eat organic strawberries, carrots, grapes at minimum. Small changes lead to big results. But I get it; in today's environment it's very expensive. I just know how drastic the differences were in my body and my mind once I gave up ALL gluten -- and now I don't eat corn anymore either, nor its derivatives. Hot flashes gone, brain fog gone, joint pain gone, headaches gone.This book is just the icing on the cake. It's the next round of improvements...more things I can try in an effort to reach optimal health. My family (not my daughter) thinks I am nuts. That's a badge of honor. I'm certifiable. But I must be doing something right...some of them wear blue light blockers (glasses) at night now and are sleeping better. Four friends purchased red light therapy boxes too.....thank you Dr. Kruse.

Beyond Supplements: The ultimate answers to why you are sick and where to start healing yourself.
This is an amazing read. I have been searching years for answers for my numerous issues. From the first page to the last, it was if Dr Kruse was speaking to me personally, addressing all my issues. Validating, clarifying what I already knew, and more importantly, guiding and instructing where and how to go forward. No need to spend big money on supplements or expensive equipment, fancy diets. He is the REAL DEAL. I am forever grateful, Dr Kruse. I have found his Web and Patreon to keep on learning. God said "let there be light" and there was LIGHT! The SUN is LIFE. Blessings

THE PRIMER ON GETTING YOUR HEALTH BACK!
If you are committed to improving your health and NOT SPENDING ALL YOUR MONEY, Dr Kruse's well-researched and solid plan will work. This is a LIFESTYLE REVAMP, not a fad or a quick fix. Do not expect overnight changes in all areas. Some people may get immediate improvements, others it will take months. As a medical professional myself, I can tell you the science is solid and changing the way you live in Dr Jack's plan will work to improve your health in every aspect. I recommend supplemental learning to expand your understanding, which you can find on Dr Kruse's website, which he keeps current DAILY. GET THIS BOOK NOW and begin to reclaim your health!
