Works like a charm, but...
My old mini chopper was giving me headaches and throwing me into fits of swearing and gnashing of teeth. Despite it being made by a premier small appliance company and stipulated to have stainless steel components, the projection that held the blade rusted and got stuck all the time! It became a chore to remove the blade portion from the main appliance to the point that I dreaded using it. Enter Amazon Prime Day. This beautiful KitchenAid 3.5 Food Chopper was accompanied by a price I could not refuse. Since its arrival, I have used this little chopper with great success to chop a variety of vegetables including the classic triumvirate of onions, celery, and carrots. After cutting the vegetables into chunks to fit in the bowl, l loaded it up putting it on chop mode. Within seconds, no exaggeration, it had whittled those chunks down to the perfect chopped size. I did have to hold the machine when it initially began chopping the carrots, but not for the less dense vegetables. It was actually quite amazing how this teeny little red machine did its thing! This petite wee chopper is compact with a space at the bottom where the cord is wound keeping it out of site and preventing the cord from dangling obtrusively from its storage shelf. The apparatus has three pieces (not counting the main motor portion) consisting of the lid, removable stainless steel blade, and bowl. The lid and bowl are a clear hard plastic making easy to see when enough is enough. The blade attaches to a column of either rubber or plastic and fits securely over the projection. The bowl snaps easily and decisively into place. The on and off switch is located at the top of the handle and operates when pressed down or released which can be easily done with one finger or a thumb. A small sliding switch changes from chop to grind with a simple push and is located just below the bowl on the motor portion of the chopper. The noise is very tolerable and not nearly as loud as my old chopper. The bowl has a convenient pour spout, and there is a "drizzle basin" on top of the lid making adding liquid easy and mess free. The chopper disassembles easily for cleaning and according to the ad is dishwasher safe. My little ruby red gem of a guillotine (also available in 8 other colors) is going to be a great addition to my kitchen.NOTE: However, I must mention one problem that I had. Neither my son or I could figure out how to remove the lid from the bowl. I read the manual from start to finish (the English portion) twice but to no avail. I cold not find any instructions on how to remove the lid. Each maneuver I tried failed. Fearing that I might indeed break or damage something, I went to that all knowing teacher, YouTube. Finally I found a video with one simple sentence/statement that answered my question. One just takes a finger or thumb and gently pushes the top portion at the stop button forward toward you. So, using gentle pressure and one finger I did just that, and voila' I was able to remove the lid. Simple as pie, but not so initially! Now in my opinion, that should have been included in the instruction manual, and I should not have had to go to YouTube to find out how to remove a lid. KitchenAid is above that! Despite the fact that this is a top notch little machine, I was tempted to give it 4 stars. Reason prevailed, and five stars were assigned because of the size, stability, efficiency, speed, and quality of the machine. It really is very easy to remove the lid once you know how it is done. This little mini chopper is a giant among its own kind, and I can recommend it without reservation...just remember- push the little starter toward you to remove the lid!Top 3 Likes:-Does an excellent job chopping to a roughly uniform size-It is fast, efficient, and relatively, comparatively quiet-Compact and solidly, substantially, and attractively constructedTop 3 Dislikes:-There is some (but minimal) motor noise-Had to hold it steady while chopping dense vegetables like carrots-Lack of instruction on how to remove the lid

Just be sure handle is in the right spot, then it's great.
Just in case it helps anyone else, to get this to work you need to have the handle at 3 o'clock. If you set the handle down on top of the kitchenaid label and then turn to the right, it will be in the right spot and work. If not, it won't turn on, even if things seem like they're clicking into place. Once I learned that, I loved this machine. Perfect countertop size, easy to tuck away.

My new favorite
Best little splurge in a long time! I have a larger food processor and thought this little one was unnecessary - but I always dread/resist dragging the larger one out, then the clean up afterwards. This little thing is a game changer and I use it SO MUCH! Its just so much more convenient and easier to handle in every aspect. I think the big one just lost its place in my kitchen :)

Difficult to get it to work the first time.
Right out of the box the lid would not come off. I tried turning it both ways, but it was stuck. When I eventually did get it to turn it was okay, but then the workbowl wouldn't sit on the base well enough to get it to function. Not until I took it all apart again was it able to fit together, but it doesn't seem to be made to fit together very well. It took a lot of fussing around to get it to work. Another KitchenAid product I had worked okay except that the plastic parts broke no matter how careful I was with it and I had to replace the workbowl four times. They no longer make the workbowl so I got this one to replace it. Lesson was the the plastic parts are fragile and break easily. Once I got it to work, it seemed to work well. It's hard to take back apart so don't buy if you have arthritis or poor grip strength.

This thing is awesome. I bought to replace my black and decker that gave me a good run. It is a good size. Sharp and powerful..use it to chop onions, carrots, and celery etc. not loud compared to my old one. It is a must have.

Me encantó!
