Vegetarian approved! I **LOVE** this product!
I was a bit leery to purchase due to all the negative reviews. I’ve never seen a product with such biased reviews on both ends of the spectrum! They’re all over the place. I just received my black Caviart today, and I absolutely LOVE it! A full breakdown: *First impresssion, the size of the container is generous, when comparing to my usual grocery store shelf (real) caviar. I like the premium quality looking packaging of this as well, it’s very appealing. *Opening the container, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the product is NOT liquidy as some reviewers mentioned. Just like real caviar, it’s a solid product. Visual appeal, this looks like the real thing. *Aroma: there is no chemical smell as another reviewer insinuated. It doesn’t smell awkward or bad. *Solidarity: scooped just as I would real caviar, and it holds it shape very nicely. Perfect little “eggs” that are uniform in shape. *Taste: here’s the real test! Perfect little “eggs” that feel pleasant on the palate (very nice smooth texture!), that gently *pop* with a pleasant lightly salted flavor. No weird aftertaste. *Final thoughts: I LOVE this product, even better than the real thing, and I HIGHLY recommend it! This is not a novelty product, it is an amazing substitute to a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle. I’m absolutely amazed at how some of these companies put out such fantastic flavorful plant based products that are so similar, if not better, than the real thing.

Should not be considered a caviar replacement.
Awful!! Should not have cavi anywhere in its name. It’s like the texture of squeaky cheese in your mouth. No flavor. If you don’t like caviar and just want seaweed, you’d like this. If you want a good caviar replacement, stick to the imitation caviar pacific brand.

Great alternative to roe or caviar
I gave this 5 stars partly based on my expectations, never having tried a vegetarian/seaweed "caviar" before, and real roe or caviar have been rare things in my life - but I loved every morsel I've ever had. Finding a good fish-friendly eco-friendly alternative is not easy and CaviArt really does succeed. I will definitely be buying it again. If you are expecting exactly the same as fish roe, you might find this product less salty and with less of that distinctive fresh ocean umami. It does have a great fresh taste and texture very close to caviar, just not quite as intense. I have eaten it with salmon steaks, chopped boiled eggs, and even with a bit of brie on crackers. I am sure it will go well with lots of other dishes. I think it's actually more flexible than real roe because it's not quite as intense in flavor. Can be overwhelmed though - sour cream with the chopped eggs was too much for it. Overall I am soo happy to have found something that really reminds me of eating fish roe when I was much younger, but without all the issues of how roe is harvested etc.

Great taste
Love this vegan type caviar. Tastes almost like the authentic kind.

pretty good and helps curb a craving for caviar.
For what it is, what it’s not (real caviar) and what it costs- this is actually pretty good and helps curb a craving for caviar. It’s really “crunchy” almost like Tobiko. Not as salty as some others but the lack of dyes in it- worth the trade off. Honestly don’t think you could say anything bad about this if you’ve had caviar, know you like caviar, and want something as a trade off for the price. It does NOT taste like true caviar but again- curbs a craving.

Mostly thin tasteless liquid
I was surprised that the jar was mostly filled with a thin dark rather tasteless liquid. The "eggs" themselves were pretty good--I did not really expect them to taste like real caviar, but they had a nice texture and taste, and not too salty. But don't expect this jar to be filled with firm "caviar eggs." It's more like a slurry of mostly water with a couple of teaspoons of "eggs" at the bottom. I will not be buying again.

Awesome sub to use on vegan sushi!!!
I used to love caviar before I went vegan, so when I saw a plant based "caviart" I had to try it, and I must say it is pretty good! It's definitely not trying to be what it's not, which this is NOT something mimicking Salmon caviar or anything of sorts, however if you have ever tried Flying fish caviar, it is 95% identical. It doesn't have a fishy taste, but definitely has a bit of that "sea" flavor. It's a touch under-salted, so just add some soy sauce to it and it's great. It is a wonderful addition to a vegan sushi roll, in both look and flavor. It looks and tastes amazing on crackers with vegan mayo! Will definitely be buying more, already made it through both of the little containers I got. Oh and the containers are small, but it fits way more in there than it appears on first sight.

Very small, rubber texture
The Caviar arrived in good shape, however that is where to good part of this review ends. The caviar beads while its supposed to be made of seaweed has no caviar smell, are very small, its size is closer to roe than caviar. The color is jet black similar to lumpfish caviar; texture is like small rubber balls. The taste salty (of course all caviar is). There was no caviar like pop when chewed. Basically, I was curious, now that curiosity has be replaced with skepticism. I will try others before I give up, but I cannot recommend this particular product.
